Judy Caetano

October 10, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Judy Caetano on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018 at the age of 55. She was at home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous and valiant five-year battle with ALS. Judy was the beloved and cherished daughter of Jose and Olinda Caetano. Extra special sister to Nelson and Faye Caetano, Norman and Candy Caetano, and Adelia and Kelvin Proctor.  She will truly be missed by her nephews and nieces, Dean Caetano (Kristy), Curtis Caetano (Abbey), Jennifer Ukwuoma (Emeka), Joshua Proctor and Justine Proctor, great-niece Mia Caetano, and great-nephew Theodore Ukwuoma. She will also be missed by her canine companion, Murphy. Judy was a kind and caring woman whose priority was always her family. She enjoyed her many years working in the banking industry and valued the friendships she had with many of her colleagues. The family is very grateful to our special team of personal support workers, nurses and all of the health care professionals who together supported Judy so she was able to be home throughout the duration of her entire illness. We are also thankful for the support of the ALS Society. We have been overwhelmed by the love and support of our family, friends and community. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, with prayers being conducted at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 777 Valetta Street, London, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment at St. Peter’s Cemetery and Holy Family Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Judy are asked to consider ALS Canada.

I was so sorry to hear of Judy's passing. We became friends when she worked at Wood Gundy & continued to get together and stay in touch for many years after that. A few things I will always remember about Judy were her great sense of humor, her wicked laugh, and her love for her family. I cannot imagine all that you are going through at this difficult time but know that Judy will remain in your hearts and guide you through life from above. I would expect nothing less from my dear determined friend... Michele Fenlon

Judy was very brave and an inspiration to everyone she met. She encouraged us to be better people and to face our challenges head on, accepting what we can not change and through sheer will power, defy the odds set against us. She was an amazing woman whom we are proud to have known and we know you all are very proud to be her family. Olinda I can not imagine your sorrow at this time. As parents we never want to face our child's loss of life. Adel, the loss of your only sister must leave an unfillable hole in your heart. But together as a family with Nelson, Norman and all your spouses and children and grandchildren, you will all get through this painful time and Judy's indomitable spirit will fill you with peace as you remember all she did and the lessons you learned from her. With deepest sympathy, Sherry and Trevor XOXO
