Joe Logan was my favourite uncle. He was married to my mother Shirley’s, youngest sister - Beryl. When Joe and Beryl married, he graciously included my grandmother- the matriarch of the “Rodger Girls” family - in the family unit. One Sunday in every month, for 18 years, my mother, brother, and I, had dinner at the Logan’s home, along with Granny Rodgers. When I was growing up, every Christmas and most summer holidays were spent with Granny and all four Rodger girls and their families and friends. Even after Joe, Beryl and Jodi moved north to Thornbury, my mother, my children and I always spent a week in summer with the Logan’s, and they in turn visited us at the Rodgers’ cottage in Willow Beach. As a young girl, I found Joe to be handsome, athletic and quick to laugh. As an adult, I came to know him as additionally being charismatic, dependable and kind-hearted. Over many years I had the pleasure of observing Joe and Beryl’s family dynamics firsthand - and I can unconditionally state, that their marriage was the only “virtually- perfect marriage” that I have ever encountered in all my 67 years. I am sorry that the world has lost a true gentleman, but I am happy that Joe and Beryl are now reunited. Lynda (Gerrie) Mitchell
