Joseph ‘Joe’ Otto Nagy

Passed peacefully, with family by his side, at Victoria Hospital, London, in his 67th year. A loving father, he will be missed by his children Sylvia and Richard Nagy. Also missed by their mother, Irma Nagy, his wife of 21 years. Beloved by Louise Hord in the autumn of his life. Predeceased by his step-brother, Steve (Pista) Nagy, and his parents, Jozsef Nagy and Etel Szabo. Visitation will be held at WESTMOUNT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 521 Village Green Avenue, London on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., where the funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. After emigrating from Hungary at the age of 16, Joe attended Fanshawe College and worked most of his life as an industrial electrician at General Motors and General Dynamics. Inquisitive, gentle and kind, Joe was a lover of nature. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Joe are asked to consider Crest Support Services (Lucan).

Dear Nagy family, I will always have such fond memories of Joe from our childhood. From his goofy jokes, crafty kitchen experiments and willingness to drive us to our many of our adolescent adventures. I also recall some fun visits to his beloved farm and he always had an ample supply of his harvest to give away to friends. A few years ago we popped in to say hi and Hamish and I enjoyed drinking his special hungarian wine while he regaled Hamish with tales of Hungary. He made a wonderful life for himself in Canada and he always had a smile on his face. We are so very sorry for your loss and thinking of you all in this sad time. Love, Kathryn, Hamish and Victoria

Dear Nagy Family. Our deepest condolences. Living in the same subdivision we have many fond memories of Otto. He was alway a pleasure to talk with and he brought a lot of joy to my parents when he visited them and especially when he brought his accordion and played Hungarian songs. He will be missed. My condolences to the Nagy family. I knew Joe from my years at General Motors. And have since met him again through his farming operations in Straffordville Ont. He was a kind person and a gentleman. He will be missed.
