John Peter Goertz

Peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, John Goertz of London at the age of 86. John was born in Baarlo, Netherlands. Beloved husband of Trudy for 59 years. Father of Bettyann Goertz, Michael Goertz, and Joanne Barrett (John). Predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Joseph, Peter, and Pietje; brothers-in-law, Tony, and Bill; and mother-in-law, Annelise. He will be forever missed by his siblings, Mary (d Tony), Anna (Mike), Liz (Hans), Ben (Pat), Henk (Carol), Tony (Margo); as well as his brother-in-law Carl (Barb), and sisters-in-law Doris (Bruce), Wilma (d Joseph), and Judy (Gerry). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins (Timmermans and Gielen Family) in Canada and overseas. Forever missed by his faithful and loving furry friend, his constant companion, Rosie.

John worked for Vanos Insulations. He was a long-time member of the Delaware Lions Club. He was also very active in the Cherryhill Seniors Activity Club. The family wishes to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice of London, Victor, Fiona, Jamie, Dr. Hertzman, and all the staff for their care and support.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with prayers at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, London, on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Oakland Cemetery. In lieu, of flowers the family asks you to consider donating to St. Joseph Hospice of London, or a charity of your choice.

Whenever I saw John I would be greeted with his warm smile ,a friendly wave and his asking me how I was . A kind and caring man, he will be missed . Sincere condolences to Trudy and the Goertz family .
