John Meathrel

On September 5, 2022, John Huntley Meathrel passed away peacefully at Arbor Trace Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, in his 87th year. Lovingly remembered by his wife Barbara of 63 years.  John will be missed by his daughter Brenda Stephenson (Gary), his son Mike Meathrel (Susanne) and his grandchildren Blake, Kayla (Ved), Melissa, and Danielle.  Predeceased by his parents Walter and Mary, and sister Marilyn. John worked for over 40 years at Bell Canada in London. A long suffering fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, John will always be remembered for his love of his Bayfield summer residence, and the countless rounds of golf, that he and Barb enjoyed together.  He was a terrific Mr. Fix-it/jack-of-all trades, and enjoyed reading Western books, watching Western movies, and spending time with his family.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Arbor Trace for the wonderful care that John received. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of John, are asked to consider the Alzheimer Society of London and Middlesex (Southwest Partners). The family is planning a private “Celebration of Life” ceremony at a later date.
