John “Jack” Arnold Hillman (WWII Veteran)

With family at his side, Jack Hillman, of London, and formerly of Dutton, passed away at L.H.S.C. – Victoria Hospital on Friday, September 20th, 2013 in his 94th year. Predeceased by his wife, Audrey June. Loving father of Bruce, Barb (the late Jim) Roth, Alan and Sandie (Duncan) McTavish. Much loved Papa to his grandchildren: Jodie (Yves), Sandie (Jon), Kristie (John), Kelly (Mike), Andrew, Anthony, Jill (Eric) and Meggy, and great-grandchildren Kloe and Reese. He will be greatly missed by his family. Jack was a wireless operator in the Canadian Air Force during WWII. After the war, he met his wife, Audrey, and settled in London. He worked in the Composing Room at the London Free Press, retiring in 1984. Jack enjoyed all sports and excelled in hockey as a member of the “Dutton Thistles” but spent his retirement playing golf every day and was a member of the Highland Golf and Country Club for 43 years. The family will receive friends at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Monday, September 23rd, 2013 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Private family interment at Woodland Cemetery. The family wishes to offer a special “thank you” to the staff on 4BW at Parkwood Hospital for the care they provided Jack during the past 10 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Parkwood Hospital Foundation – Veterans Care Fund would be appreciated.
