It is deeply saddening to learn that Doug is gone. I worked with Doug for several years at Canada Trust. He was very loyal, fair, kind, hard working, disciplined, committed and proud of his family. I know his challenges brought the best of me and for that I am grateful. For me Doug was "old school" gentleman, who reminded me of my father. Doug and I had tractors in common so during my travels, when I saw one on sale, I made sure he knew about it. One of the things I clearly remember was the sparkler parade to his office, we had on one of his birthdays that had him smiling. A competitive lot, Doug kept us focus, on target and provided support as needed. One thing of note is that Doug liked "sexy" excel spreadsheets! Spreadsheets had not only to carry accurate information, but also had to be attractively formatted, so it was fun getting excel reports ready for him. My deepest condolences to Mrs Gibbings and Doug's immediate and extended family. Doug and his emails will be missed.

I am so very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. His long and difficult struggle is now over. I wish to extend, at this saddest of times, my sincerest sympathies to Marj and Kim and Keri, to Doug's sisters Betty Ann and Jean, and to all the other family members and friends of Doug's. I remember with great fondness our high school days in Clinton, our Saturday hunting and fishing excursions, often rushing back to town to pick up Marj from work. On the farm scuffling beans with me on the tractor and Doug on the scuffler, and so many more great memories. Then later, when Betty Ann and I moved to London and before we had a car, Doug and Marj treated us with amazing generosity by driving across town to pick us up and take us with them time and time again. Remembering also many good times at house parties and dances etc., (Wonderland Gardens, the 401 Plaza, and the Stork Club in Port Stanley) tennis with Bert and Merv and on and on. Doug was a great guy and will be sorely missed. Sincerely, Bob

Condolences to the Gibbings family - Marjorie, Kim, Keri and Graeme and to Doug's sisters - my mother Betty Ann, and Aunt Jean. I was recollecting some of the memories I have from our many visits to Byron as kids. I recall the rabbit the family once kept in a huge wooden cage I can only assume Doug must have built. I remember a games and cards event held in the rec room that would have been a Gibbings family event as I think it was Bruce that was so patient in trying teach me how to play Euchre. And my aunt and uncle's was the first place I ever had duck at one of many family dinners over the years. And Aunt Marj, one of my fondest memories was when I fell asleep on a lazy afternoon while reading a book and that book settled down right across my face as I slept. I remember you coming in quietly and gently moving the book aside so that I could continue to sleep. Years later, it would be Christmas get togethers in Poplar Hill and I will always remember the year I had to use the Chevy Caprice as a snow plow, pushing through the drifts in order to get back to London because it had snowed so much during the day. I also remembered the time we tried to drive that same Caprice up into the barn to store it for the winter - but try as we did we never could get it up over the threshold and into that barn. And of course, I loved driving that old Ford tractor whenever that rare opportunity arose. There was never anything for me to do with it - it was just fun driving it around. And it was not until recently I even realized there a photo of me at wheel. So thank you Aunt Marj for all the memories made with your family. Best wishes. Love, Brad
