It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John David Carson on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the age of 64. John died suddenly at Victoria Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born April 20th, 1953 in Chapleau, Ontario, John was predeceased by his parents Carmel Leona Carson and John Alfred Carson. Loving husband of Susan. Brother of Donnie (Colleen), Dennis (Anne), and Brian (Sandra). Loving father to Lindsay, Sarah (Nicole), Andrew (Jenny), Kym and Jeff. Cherished Grandfather (‘Grumpy’) to Ronin, Kurtis, Henley, Mabel, Murphy, and Ruby. Will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. John served on the London City Police Force for 32 years. He also proudly served for the Canadian Army Reserves for 7 years. The family would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital for the exceptional care and compassion they provided. The funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 12:00 Noon, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Woodhull Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in John’s name to the London Humane Society.

We miss our friend John. Our soul felt condolences to Sue, John's kids, Grumpy's grandchildren, his brothers and his pooches. I first knew John as a 13 year old, thorn in the side of his brother Dennis and me, cool 18 year old teenagers. Over time I've watched John grow to be a father, professional and true Canadian. The red ensign lives through John! I remember a weekend of fishing at "Uncle Harold's Cottage" that shall stay there Brian. Two Ocean's forever. Love you, Hugh, Jenny and family.
"Sergeant Carson" was my instructor at OPC when I was a recruit. He was a true gentleman and an outstanding role model. I always tried to emulate him and strived to be as good a police officer as he was. He made you want to be better every day. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I know it's cliché to say, but the world really is a lesser place without him. Rest in peace Sarg. Life's work well done.

I had the distinct pleasure of having had Sgt John CARSON as my supervisor, early in my career. He was tough but always fair in my dealing with him and it was sincerely appreciated. He would almost melodically recite aloud, "Wouldn't it be sweet, to walk a beat, on 61 beat". Many would have remembered him for these words in an endearing way. On behalf of my family I wish to express by condolences to John's family. John was a great police officer, a natural leader, and a good humored friend who always had something witty to say. His loss is a shock to those of us who were lucky enough to have known and worked with him. Take comfort in the great memories that you have.
I worked with John at the Ontario Police College....very few people understood his sense of humour.....I was one of the lucky ones.......wind at your back John, you will be walking in good company. God bless you Sue in the days to come, may god hold you in the palm of his hand.

Gord and I are deeply saddened by the sudden and untimely passing of John. Our most sincere condolences to you and both your families. We enjoyed our many dinners together and the stories and laughter we shared. John was a vibrant and caring individual and the love you both shared was so evident each time we were together. John was very proud of our uniforms and he ensured that they were displayed with honour. We shared a common bond with John since we both also served in the military (full time regular CAF). Oh how I miss you Dad. It sure has been a struggling losing you but I’m learning to deal with the pain better. Still can’t believe you’re gone. I miss all your jokes and smart ass comments. I’m becoming more like you these days. My new girlfriend Laura reminds me of you a lot. You would have loved her and gotten along so well I know. I hope you’re enjoying it up there.
