John Alphonse Schiller

March 12, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of John Alphonse Schiller at his home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Donna Jean Schiller for 39 years. Loving father of his son John (Connie) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, son Michael (Sarah) of Ancaster, and his daughter Shannon (Brian) of Guelph. John was the loving grandfather of Kristen, Tyler, Trent, Jack, Noah, Quinn, Louisa, Olivia, Avery, and great-grandfather to Kinsley. Predeceased by his brother Peter (Nancy) of Calgary. Dear brother to Mary (Schiller) (Bill) of The Villages, Florida.

John was born in Windsor, Ontario on January 17, 1940 to his parents Gerard and Bernice. He later moved to the Missisauga/Oakville area and then settled in London. John worked extremely hard and established a long career in the transportation industry. Throughout the years, he built a legacy of hard work, dedication and integrity, leaving an incredible mark on both the industry and the countless lives he touched.

John was also an avid golfer and was on the course every chance he got. He was proud of his golf skills and his eight hole in one record! The cold and snowy winters could not even keep him away from living his passion and lived in Florida for the winter months. He was a cherished member of the Riverbend Golf and Country Club in London, where he had many friends, as he enjoyed being around people that shared his passion.

A seasoned traveller, John loved to travel, but his heart found solace in cruises, especially when shared with his beloved wife, Donna. Their adventures allowed them to create a tapestry of beautiful memories that will be cherished by those who were fortunate to witness their love.

John would always light up a room with his presence and smile. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and loved to spend time either watching a baseball game, hockey game or golf tournament on television.

Our family would also like to thank his dear friend and neighbor, Tony Casciano, and his wife, Susan, for all their help and for being there when family could not. Tony went above and beyond friendship and John loved him like family.

Private cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Very sad to hear of John’s passing. I always enjoyed my times with him when I worked at RiverBend as one of the golf pros. My favourite memory of John is when you would lag a putt about two to three feet away from the hole, and you would hear him say “that’s just outside of the friendship circle”. Makes me laugh to this day! John was a great guy and will be deeply missed by everyone that had the chance to know him. My thoughts are with Donna and all of John’s friends and family.

My heart goes out to the Schiller family. I loved Uncle John dearly and have such great memories of growing up with our families spending so many good times together. One of my favorite memories was Uncle John surprising me in Las Vegas, showing up at my wedding - 33 years ago! Our sincere condolenses, Barb, Derek and family xo
