Joanne Borland

November 9, 2018

Joanne Borland was a friend to everyone she met. She was a daughter to Gord and Yvonne Hammond, and a sister to Bob, Nola, Abbie, Steve, and Ken. She was the wife and best friend to Stewart Borland, the most loving mother to Danielle, Mandi, Nicki, Megan, Abigail and her husband Brady Kingsbury as well as beautiful and beloved granddaughters August Dawn Joanne and Louise Joy Elizabeth. Joanne dearly loved, and will be dearly missed by, the furry family members Elsa, Paprika, and the famous Jacob, while she sits with Bunsen by her side in Heaven. Joanne loved heartily, more than anyone in this world and will always be remembered and wholly loved by everyone in Westmount, London, Korea, and beyond. A memorial reception to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m., with words of remembrance at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Joanne are asked to consider the London Humane Society.

Dear Family and friends of Joanne, may the God of all comfort be with you as you mourn your dear one. May all the good memories you shared be a source of comfort for you. I hope you find additional comfort in the promises of hope made by the God of the Bible - "God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." Revelation 21:3-5. Imagine a time in the future when no one will shed a single tear for pain ever again, and those in the grave will be brought back to life!- John 5:28. As we all look forward to that beautiful paradise, where we can see Mike again, i wish you God's peace.

My sincere concolences to the Hammond and Borland families during this difficult time. I had the privilege of knowing many members of the Hammond family, and, Joanne was always one that brought a smile to my face (and made me laugh). She was a loving and compassionate woman. Stuart, her husband, had the ability to make me actually like chemistry at Saunders - which is truly a gift! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Theresa

I was fortunate enough to work with Joanne for several years. She was a very special lady with a huge heart. May loving memories ease your loss and bring you comfort.

I worked with Joanne at Bell many years ago and she was one of the most calm, friendly consistently positive people I have ever met. There wasn't a negative bone in her being. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. This world needs more Joanne's in it. My condolences to her family and friends.

So many amazing memories of Mrs. B and the Borland house growing up. She was the most supportive Mom and stood behind her girls in whatever they chose to do. Many a night she would drive Abbie, myself and a grey van full of our musical equipment across town so we could play a show with our band. She would stay for the show and then drive us and the equipment home at an ungodly hour of the night. She always had a smile on her face and never once complained. She had one of the purest hearts I've ever known and I will always remember the kindness she showed me.

A very special lady. When Jo was around it always seemed better. That big smile erupting into a huge laugh with a few snorts thrown in that got everyone laughing with her. I can't believe how much coffee we drank....at kitchen tables from Fox Grove to Baker. And I can't believe how lucky I was to have you as a friend. Condolences to Stu and the Girls and the family Hammond.

Although I did not know Joanne that well, she always popped in when ever I came to London to visit Jane & kids from Thunder Bay My condolences to Stew and the girls.

I always looked forward to parent-teacher interviews with Joanne because we shared a love of kids and realistic expectations. If wearing pyjamas to school was the only way to arrive on time, so be it...usually accompanied by a hilarious anecdote of how the day was going! My heart goes out to Joanne and Stew's wonderful daughters; your Mom will be remembered for so many things, including "keeping it real". Warm hugs...

~ Sydney Holody

Joanne was a kind, fun and caring next-door neighbour in Westmount for 16 years always willing to take on three more kids into her busy and beautiful home. Thank you Joanne for your generous ways. So many memories of hanging out with the kids by the pool and your amazing Easter, Christmas and Halloween displays in your stunning gardens. Mostly we will miss your laugh and smile. RIP. Gone far too soon.

Some of my fondest memories of growing up as a teenager were at Joanne and Stew house. Joanne always made me feel welcome, and a part of her family. I am forever always grateful for that. Joanne put so much energy into making the lives of others better not only those that she loved but for those that she didn't even know. I will miss her tremendously but appreciate everything she brought to my life thank you for all the fun times. Love and peace

Gone too soon! I remember the days when we would go for long walks in old south. Joanne had Abbie in her stroller and I had Jazmine in mine. And the men would walk behind us assessing all the old houses and what they needed done to them. Then later in life we would drive back to the old neighbourhood to reminisce. It seems not long ago that we did this very same thing in other neighbourhood....Niagra on the lake. This was in a span of 37 years. Our conversations would pick up right where we left off. Joanne you left to soon because we had other neighbourhoods to explore and more coffee to drink. Joanne you had a beautiful life here on earth just too short. But I know you are with us when we see the next house that needs our advise. It never gets old. These and many other memories will be treasured. You will be sooooo missed by so many. Love Su, Reuben, Jazmine, Samantha, Rachael, Carter, James, Jesse and Harry . RIP Joanne.
