~ Joan. C.Zabowski

My Mother’s life was her husband and family. She undoubtedly loved her kids. I recall being about 5 years old and my Mother singing with happiness in the car as we drove back from the doctor after hearing she was pregnant with my sister. Two things she imparted on me that had a profound effect on my life. The first was to always try your best. If your best is a below average grade or a loss, then you can look yourself in the mirror and say you tried your best and all is well. The second is that she always supported my decisions. Even if they were not the ones she would have first chosen for me, I knew she was always fully behind me. Mom, I will miss your expletive filled crashing in the kitchen while making dinner, I will miss our gossip-fuelled chats over rum and coke, and I will miss you telling off the lady who cut in front of you at the grocery store. Thanks for raising me, thanks for the Christmases, thanks for the car trips and the birthday parties. I can just hear you up there right now yelling “Come on Ray eh?”.
