Peacefully with family by her side at Victoria Hospital, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, Joan Agnes Burgess of London in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Neil Burgess. Loving mother of Sue Anne Tamburri (Carmine). Adored grandmother of Tianna and Christian. Dear sister of the late Alexander McCurdy (Iris) and the late Donald McCurdy (Jean). Sister-in-law to the late Donald Rikley (Denise), Robert Bird (Lois), and the late Carole Giggey (Charles).
Joan loved teaching. She started as a primary school teacher, then supply teacher, taught EASL, and tutoured students. She was involved in many groups; Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Gourmet Luncheon, Bridge, Senior Exercise group, Feeding the Hungry and Saint Aidan’s Church.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one-hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the service. Interment will take place in Stirling at a later date.
