Jean Brook

August 21, 2016

Peacefully at home on Sunday, August 21st, 2016, surrounded by her cherished family. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, George; eldest daughter Sue (Ben); son David (Rina); and youngest daughter Kathy (Dave). Jean’s great love and dedication to her seven grandchildren (Jenny, Julia, Michael, Annie, Sarah, Jacob and Stephanie) will forever be appreciated. Jean was an active volunteer throughout her lifetime with the May Court Clubs of Canada, ChildReach, Belton House, and Lorne Avenue Elementary School, always with a special focus on helping underprivileged children. Jean was fortunate to have travelled the world, played bridge in many groups, socialized at the London Hunt and Country Club and celebrated life with family and friends in London, Grand Bend and Anna Maria Island. Our family would like to acknowledge the care provided by the London Regional Cancer Program and thank her dedicated friends who kept Jean’s spirit bright along with her doctors, nurses and support workers who gently guided Jean through her cancer journey. Jean had a beautiful life and a peaceful ending. Visitation will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Jean’s life will take place at RIVERSIDE UNITED CHURCH, 695 Riverside Drive, London, on Thursday, August 25th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family at the London Hunt and Country Club commencing at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in Jean’s memory are asked to consider the May Court Club of London or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear Kathy, and all the Brook family, My sincere condolences on the loss of your mom. She was truly an amazing woman. She was loved by so many and touched the lives of everyone she met. I remember her fondly as the "go to mom" for all questions we had, as friendly and warm who had an infectious laugh. The love your family has together and the memories you have made and will continue to make are so important. My thoughts are with you. Love and hugs Jenny and family.

Dear Kathy and Family, So sorry for the loss of your Mom. I hope your happy memories will bring comfort in the days to come. Most memories of your Mom come from my earlier childhood when it was "bridge night" at our house. The roaring laughter of all the bridge ladies and your Mom's in particular stands out. What a crew! Thinking of you all and sending my best thoughts your way. Cheers, M

Dear George,Sue, Kathy, Dave and families: When we moved into Perico Bay Club in Florida 23 years ago, Jean and George were among the first people we met, so our neighborly friendship has a long history. We remember mostly her smile, her laugh, her sense of fun, and we hope those wonderful memories of her will comfort you now. With warm thoughts of all of you, Sally and Arnie Friedman

I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you will find comfort in the Bibles promise at Isa. 60: 20 where God says: No more will your sun set, Nor will your moon wane, For Jehovah God will become for you an eternal light, And the days of your mourning will have ended. We long for the day when this promise and others will be fulfilled. Rev. 21:4 "God promises to do away with death, sorrow and pain". My condolences to your family.

Dearest Brook/Nuttall family. The loss of your beloved wife/mother/grandmother, although inevitable, is tragic and heart breaking. How lucky she was to have all of you at her side in her final moments. I think her favourite place in the world was wherever she was surrounded by her beautiful family. You gave her so much joy in her life, and in her final months and days, so much help, love, care, encouragement and even fun. She was a model to everyone; no matter how well you knew her, her zest, positivity and infectious laugh made you see life just a little bit differently and feel that much happier. I see her in all of you and thus her spirit lives on. Love and hugs to you all,

Dear Susan and Family, My heart is heavy with the news of the passing of your mom (wife, grandmother and friend). It was such an honour to have known a person like Jean. She had such a positive outlook on life and had a smile for everyone. We loved her infectious laughter! She and your dad raised 3 wonderful children and in turn you guys have raised wonderful families of your own. Your families took such special care of your mom over this last year as she battled cancer. Now she is free from this disease and she will now watch over all of you from Heaven. God bless you all as you grieve for your loss. We love you. Linda, Alan, Samantha, Lindsay and Matt.

Dear Brook/Nuttall Families, What beautiful sentiments written by everyone before me. I am in tears as I read these, such beautiful words for a beautiful lady whom we also loved & respected. With my kids being the younger of "the pact" they referred lovingly to your Mom as Grandma Goose who always had a loving smile, words of encouragement & hugs for us all...not to mention that infectious wonderful laugh. She will be greatly missed, however, as Ola said above, she lives on in you all. Sending you our heartfelt love, we mourn with you...Steve, Koryn, Ashley & Brodie xoxoxoxo.
