Janice Woloshyn

March 27, 2016

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our much-loved wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Janice Patricia Woloshyn (nee McMullen) this past Sunday, March 27, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., at the age of 66. Tenacious, quick-witted, loyal and smart as a whip, Jan was an avid reader and lifelong learner, who adored her family and her most-loyal italian greyhound, Logan. Jan is survived and greatly missed by her husband, Peter Woloshyn (Port Stanley), her daughter, Tracy Woloshyn and grandchildren Liam and Beatrice Hare (Toronto), sisters Karen McMullen-Lewis (London) and Debra (Peter) Pond (London), brothers Peter McMullen (Vancouver) and David (Cherylanne) McMullen (London) and best friend Rosemary (Gary) Chikowski (Brampton). Also by much-loved nieces and nephews Kayleigh and Laura Pond, Christopher (Deanna) Leaning, Justin (Amy) and Courtney (Geoffrey) McMullen and by Wendy (Simon), Debbie, Whitney, Stephanie (Rob) and Valery (Njacko) Woloshyn. Recently, Jan’s illness brought her to Wortley Village, where she could be close to Victoria Hospital and a wonderful network of medical and community support people, including visiting nurses from ParaMed and VON, staff and volunteers of the outpatient program at St. Joseph’s Hospice, and the best spiritual counsellor a seeker could ask for, Deb Carter. Sincerest thanks to these individuals and to Drs. Stephen Welch, Anita Singh and Carla Garcia (London Regional Health Sciences), Amit Oza (Princess Margaret) and Maria Parent. Very special thanks also to Carrie Ielapi, Meghan Hamilton, Deb Kostyria, Carly Fleming, Cathy Morano, Helen Butlin, Kate Partridge, Teresa Bryant, Shannon Calvert, Lisa Louch and Barb McIntosh – you each provided invaluable care and support. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, donations are invited to Ovarian Cancer Canada.

Peter and Tracy, our sincerest sympathies go out to you and your close family on the passing of Jan/Janice. The life of Jan is an energetic achievement, and her death marks the end of that struggling achievement. She had enormous courage to push through, in spite of all the many peaks and valleys she faced with anger, tears, fears, and love too. She had an authentic life, and made it work as she passed on the lessons of life she learned the hard way to those living. Her early passing displays a life taken too soon. She will be deeply missed, but remembered by all those she touched. Deepest condolences at this most difficult time, Eric and Marianne Hey

I knew and truly enjoyed Jan when she served as secretary to Diane Stewart in the executive offices of University Hospital. Over all the years I knew her, she was unfailingly helpful, patient, and gracious. Always quick with a snappy comment or a look at the light side, she was a pleasure to work with. I join you in mourning the loss of this lovely woman. Sincerely, Norm Corrin
