Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Sunday, April 7th, 2013, Jan van der Kuur, of London, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary (1993) and dearest friend of Nelly Hoornick. Dear father of George (Mary), of Pickering, Corrie (Aston Munroe), of Scarborough, Johann (Norma), of Pembroke and Margaret (Joe Springer), of Toronto. Loved grandfather of Mark (Sandra), Jeffrey (Jennifer), Jennifer (Jayson), Kelly (Ross), Colin (Wendy) and Jan (Brittany), and great grandfather of 13. Jan will be sadly missed by Jack Hoornick, Libby Wallace and Casey Hoornick, of Regina, and will be fondly remembered by many relatives in the Netherlands and Ireland. “Our family was touched by the compassionate care given to Pappa by the Palliative Care Unit at Victoria Hospital, with special mention to Dr. Malik and his team of exceptional nurses and support workers.” The funeral service will be conducted at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Sunday, April 14th, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation two hours prior. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Monday, April 15th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jan to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
