James Karl Bartleman
December 24, 1939 - August 14, 2023
Jim passed peacefully with family at his side on Monday, August 14, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario.
He is a man known for his dedication and vision to his work but was also a family man. Husband of Marie-Jeanne, his partner in work and life for 48 years. Father of Anne-Pascale (Brian Rauwerda), Laurent (Sarah Hicks) and Alain. Proud grandfather of Sebastien, Nicholas, Henry, Marianne and Thomas. Much loved brother of Robert (Gail), Mary (Ian) and Janet (Richard). He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Tom, Anne, Gerald and Shannon, and great-nieces. He is predeceased by his parents Maureen (Simcoe) and Percy Bartleman.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Catherine Faulds and all the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their incredible dignified and compassionate care, to Mary Ducharme and Charlene Kent for their unwavering support and kindness over the last few years, Dr. B. Achtar and the VON nurses and PSWs who supported Jim in this journey.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private funeral. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Jim are asked to consider United for Literacy.

To the Bartleman and Rosillon families may Jim rest in peace. He was truly a great Canadian who always spoke the truth. The scope of his work was very broad and too secret for the eyes of most Canadians. Gone but not forgoten. TAB
My sincerest condolences go out to Mr. Bartleman’s family and friends and to all those that were impacted by his incredible contributions to society. RIP. Anthony Hylton
I have wonderful memories of vacations spent with Jim and my parents when i was a teenager. I will miss him. Pierre-Pat
