With heavy and broken hearts, we announce the passing of Jim Fletcher (“Fletch” to so many). He died at home in London, Ontario of cancer, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of 32 years to Linda. Cherished father of Tammi, Jamie (Scott), Brandon (Selena), Shelbi and Katie (Jason). Proud and adoring Papa of Jakob, Shane, Jared, Aidan, Kalli and Donnie. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Jack (Dianne), of Sarnia, Dave (Sam), of Rodney, Art, and Joan. Special brother-in-law to Lore VandenAkker, who considered him her hero. Cherished uncle of Sarah, Elisa, Julia, Krista and Emma; he was a big part of their lives, and they will miss him dearly. Fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, who are left with wonderful memories of him. Predeceased by his parents Marion and Jack Fletcher; sister, Marilyn; brothers, Ric and Rob; and sister-in-law, Audrey. Jim worked at London Life for 50 years. He was greatly respected as a leader in his field. Many friendships were forged with associates and clients. As Clem has said, “Fletch put the London in London Life.” Jim was involved with baseball for many years, beginning with fastball, then slow-pitch for various teams. He enjoyed his ‘50’: cheering on the Red Wings (“Gordie Howe is the greatest of them all!”), hosting lawn dart tournaments, and socializing at the club. Jim and Linda loved to travel, whether it was a road trip with friends, Vegas, or concerts and plays. Every adventure was memorable. Jim’s infectious smile and sense of humour always made the party better! He will truly be missed by everyone’s lives that he touched. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rest in peace, Jim.

I was so sorry to read of the passing of a tremendous person I call my friend. We grew up living 2 blocks apart and he was one of his brothers who delivered our newspaper for a period. I saw him quite often in spite of being in different school zones. His one brother was also my grade 9 gym teacher. Jim and I both worked at London Life at different jobs. We used to see each other on a fairly regularly basis, ate lunch together a few times and since leaving there we have frequently seen each other at many events around London. He was always smiling and always called my by the name I was called by as a youth and I loved it. We could put our arms around each other's shoulders and laugh about many things. I appreciated him calling me at work and trusting me to look after whatever request he had. Although we weren't visiting/phone friends there was always a bond Jim made with so many. He will be deeply missed. Love you Jim. Watch over your family.
My sincerest condolences to Linda and family for the loss of your dear Jim. He had a love for family and life , I will remember Jim as a happy kind, friend. Rest in Peace Jim. I grew up next to the Fletcher family, in east London. Many good times Playing games out doors, had to come in when the street lights came on.
My deepest condolences to Jim's family. Jim and I go back to his early years at London Life where we became friends. We were coworkers for a while in a part time job we both did to support our families in our younger days. Jim achieved great success at London Life. He never lost his zest for life. My Uncle Jim has an infallible spirit that lives on in his lovely family. To my cousin's, Tammi, Jamie, Brandon. Your Father brought nothing but smiles and warmth to my life. I will always treasure my time with you and my uncle during my childhood. Thanks for the records Uncle Jim and Aunt Linda. When I listen I will think of my uncle and his family. Love

Saying goodbye to a very special man in our lives and knowing the pain that Linda, along with our children and grandsons have, and still are going through, has been so difficult to witness. We were always welcomed into the family circle and will forever miss that infectious smile. Rest in peace dear Jim .. our hearts go out to the family as they navigate through this tremendous loss. Jim and I first met at the baseball diamond beside Chesley Park P.S. I was the catcher and Jim played 2nd base. We marched together to Labatt Park for the schoolground championships - can't remember if we won or lost. I moved away in 1959 and we regrettably we lost touch. He was a good friend from my youth. My Father- in law, Lloyd K. Geil retired from the London Life after 56 years which is how I learned that Jim worked there. He was the pitcher on their fastball team that won the Industrial League championship in the early 1950's. Fletch would have been impressed. My sincere condolences.

We were shocked and saddened to read about Jim's death. He was our London Life rep for over 40 years. He would always share stories about his family and how proud he was of them. He was a pleasure to deal with and made us feel like friends, not just clients. We truly believe he went beyond his duties to help all his clients. We missed him when he retired. So sorry for your loss Linda and to the Children and Grandchildren. He is an unforgettable person. Again, sincere condolences!

Memories
Jim & I met playing fastball in our early days at London Life. He was a class act even back then. In later years, Barb played slo-pitch with Jim for several years and he continued to be a class act. On many teams he was the captain. On all teams he was the captain of the entertainment committee. It seems Jim's role in life was to make everyone around him happy. We will miss his infectious smile and mild manner tremendously. He really was one of a kind. We extend our deepest sympathy to Linda and family. We will miss him.
