Passed peacefully at home, with family by his side, on Monday, July 8, 2024, at the age of 50. Loving husband of Jenny Willems. Proud father to: Elise Willems (Kealan), Dylan Willems (Jenna), Dylan King, and Brooke Sterling (Kyle). Beloved grandfather to Rowan and Clara Sterling. Forever loved and missed by parents John and Nellie Willems, and by mother and father in-law Luke and Jean Mommersteeg. Always in the hearts of his sisters Cyndi (Mike) Gibson, Tanya Willems (Branden Cole), and Sue (Mark) McNaughton. Fondly missed by brothers and sisters-in-law: Nette (Ken) Timmermans, Marty (Wendy) Mommersteeg, and Joe Mommersteeg. James will be remembered by his best bud Gus, along with his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bellamere Winery & Event Centre, 1260 Gainsborough Road, London, on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Donations in memory of James can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We shared wonderful times watching our boys play soccer. He never stopped talking about Dylan and Elise - he was such a proud and loving father. Our last encounter was at Springbank - he was taking an early morning stroll with Jenny, and clearly, the two of them couldn't be happier! Jenny, Elise and Dylan - he has not left you. Our dear friend, James was a beacon of light in our lives, always emanating warmth, kindness, and love. His incredibly infectious laughter and genuine smile could brighten even the darkest of days.
