Peacefully, after a quiet visit with family, at Victoria Hospital, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, Ida Lock of London, at the age of 100. Beloved mother of David Norman (Anne), and Cathy Richards of Niagara Falls. Adored grandmother of Lesley-Anne Love (Stuart) of Redbourn, England, Susan Norman (Kevin Watt), Billy Gault (Nneka), Ashley Hicks (Joe), David Hicks (Rhonda), and Tommy Hicks (Lindsey). Dear great-grandmother to 9 great-grandchildren. Survived by 11 nieces and nephews in Florida, North Carolina, Alabama, British Columbia, Ontario and the United Kingdom. Predeceased by sisters: Elsie Odell (née Unwin) and Irene Rourke; brothers: Harry Unwin and Cyril Unwin; great-granddaughter Brianna Simms; nieces: Elizabeth Chuck (née Unwin) and Susan Voight (née Rourke); great-nephew Kevin McAdam, and great-niece Jolene Unwin.

Ida was born in London, England. She lived there through the war years and immigrated to London, Ontario, in 1952. She began working at Neilson’s Bakery followed by Victoria Hospital and Playtime Stores, Westmount. Ida was regarded as a gentle and kind person with a good sense of humour and sharp wit. She enjoyed family visits to Florida and England, most recently during Christmas 2017.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, 1344 Commissioners Road West (Byron), London, on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Interment at St. Anne’s Anglican Church Cemetery.

I've known Ida since childhood [early grade school]. She would always listen patiently to our childish complaints. I was very fond of her and often thought about her over the years. My sincere condolences to Dave and his family.
