Ian Kennedy Davidson

December 13, 2023

In his 92nd year, passed peacefully at University Hospital, London, Ontario, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.  Predeceased by wife Mildred (née Campbell) Davidson (1987). Survived by daughters, Heather Davidson, Glenda McCulloch, and Laurie Huffman.  Respected and loved by sons-in-law, the late Alex Korakianitis, Stewart McCulloch, and Mike Huffman. Cherished Granda of Kayleigh and Mark Korakianitis, Justin and Dana McCulloch, and Megan and Timothy Huffman.  Remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews.  Dad was an avid golfer, curler, woodworker, dog lover, and troublemaker.  He emigrated from Scotland in 1954, and although he loved Canada, he was a Scotsman at heart: proud, stubborn, thrifty.  Dad’s heart was broken 36 years ago; his physical heart finally caught up.  We take great comfort knowing he is reunited with our Mum, and hope there were a few wagging tails ready to greet him.  After several years of dementia, we were gifted with some glimpses of our old Dad in his last weeks, and we are forever grateful for these moments in which both his sense of humour and enduring love for us shone through.  We know that if we could tell you we loved you one last time, your reply would be “Take care”, and that there is a world of love in those two words.  Rest in peace, Dad.

There will be an opportunity to remember and celebrate Ian’s life on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London.  A private family interment will take place on Friday, December 22, 2023.  At Ian’s request, there will be no funeral.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Mission Services of London would be appreciated.

Glenda and Family; I meet Ian through curling and he gave me lots of guidance over the years. When he realized that you and I worked together Glenda we had great conversations and laughs. May all your wonderful memories bring you comfort as time goes on.

A donation has been made to Mission Services of London. Message from the donator: Kayleigh, Heather, Dana and family. We are so sorry for the loss of your Dad and Granda. Losing a loved one is never easy, but there is something so special about carrying on their spirit, stories, and name throughout your own life. Ian raised an amazing daughter and was the grandfather to two outstanding grandaughters. Every moment I have had with your other family members has been equally enjoyable and full of love and laughter. Your generous hearts and kindness are a testament to the love that was fostered in your family. Sending love and strength at this time. Brittany and Cameron xx.

Hello Davidson Family. I am from London...I do not know your family, but I was so impressed by your tribute to your father in your loving articulate words, I was brought to tears. I know how hard it is to lose your father or mother to Alzheimer's. And your words about eternal love between man and wife is heart wrenching. With heartfelt sympathy . Ken Karlson
