Peacefully, at peopleCare on Monday, July 6, 2015, Harvey Andrew Stirling of London, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Victoria Stirling of almost 63 years. Cherished father of the late Anne Stirling of London and Andrew Stirling (Karolyn) of Victoria, B.C. Grandfather of Richard Stirling. The family thanks the staff on Juniper for their exceptional kindness and compassion, and to their friend Elaine Fitzgerald for her love and support. Harvey came to Canada with his family in 1966. He served 26 years in the Royal Navy; was a veteran, and was a part of the Royal Canadian Naval Association. Harvey was a lifelong Scottish Rite Freemason. At the request of the family, there will not be a funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. A donation in memory of Harv may be made to the charity of your choice.

Harvey was my Big Brother, and although there was 13 years age gap we always had a good relation ship. My childhood memories of Harvey was always seeing him in Naval Uniform, when he was home on leave he would stand at the top of Main Street ( Dundee) and wait fior me cumming home from Primary School. I am proud to say that Harvey won many a Decoration during his Royal Navy Service, including being mentioned in Dispatches. God rest your sole.

Vicky, I am so sorry to hear about Harvey's passing. I remember the fun years when he worked at Wesley-Knox. He worked so hard. He was always cheerful and always ready with a joke. My sympathy to you and family. God Bless you and take care of yourself.

As an old shipmate of Harvey's, I was sad to hear that he had "Crossed the bar". He served his country well and was a good husband and father. I will miss him even though we were only internet friends in his retirement. Look after yourself Vicky, my thoughts are with you in this time of your loss.
Although I only knew Harvey for a number of months being a casual staff member assisting on Juniper, my days were always more enjoyable when I had the opportunity to speak with Harvey. Sharing a Scottish ancestry, Harvey's stories of life in Scotland were always enlightening, reminding me of stories my Scottish grandfather told me as a child. I will never forget the way Harvey's face would light up as he talked about serving his country. Harvey was truly a remarkable man and he will be greatly missed among the staff at peopleCare.
Love is sent from us all in North Devon... to Uncle Harvey who I remember having a 'funny accent' as a child and made me laugh, spending time with me when we visited Canada and who definitely made mum laugh; she will always remember him fondly and smile when she thinks about what he always asked her! Hugs to my special Auntie and to my cousins Richard and Andrew at this sad time. xxx
Memories
First let me say that it was both and honour and a privilege to care for Mr. Stirling. I am so grateful for men and women like him who are willing to serve their country. Each time we lose a veteran, freedom's light grows a little dimmer. May God bless his family in this time of loss. May you find peace and comfort. Celebrate his life with joy and laughter. He truly was a remarkable man.
