Peacefully with family, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, on Monday, January 20, 2025, Harry Giesen passed away in his 84th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Anne (nee Damen) for 55 years. Dear father of Ron (Marie), Ken (Greg Golovchenko), Rob (Rhonda MacKinnon), and Maria (Greg) Tremeer. Cherished Opa of Trevor, Erica, and Vanessa Giesen, Aaron and Luke Giesen, and Emily, Laura, and Julia Tremeer. Brother of Willy, Geert, Tony, Riet, Bert, Martin, Jos, and Dinie, and brother-in-law of Betsy (2021), Bert, Mary, Bernie, John (2016), Jerry, and Gerda. Harry will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and the Netherlands.
Harry was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1964. He settled in Southwestern Ontario, where he farmed with Anne for 42 years. Harry was an active member of his parish communities both in Strathroy and London and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his retirement, he enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and gardening.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10:00 am at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, London. A livestream is available for those unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry’s memory can be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice of London or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

Our hearts were with you all today. Ron, your tribute spoke volumes. Thank you for recalling such good times. Dad and I have great memories of the many hours of playing solo on Sunday afternoons. May Uncle Harry now rest in peace.

Hello Anne My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Not going much to Holy Family I was not aware he had been ill. Harry will be missed by many in the church community as well of course but those close to him.
Ron, Ken, Bob, and Maria, and Mrs Giesen, my heart is with all of you. I’m so sorry to hear about Mr Giesen’s passing. My childhood is filled with memories of sleepovers at your house - playing in the hay loft, walking through the woods, watching scary movies, playing ping pong….and Mr Giesen was always there laughing at whatever shenanigans we got up to. Maria, your Dad was one of the best and will be missed. Lots of love to you all.

On behalf of the Thursday Men's Bowling League at Fleetway, I wish to pass on our deepest condolences on the passing of Harry. He was one of the good guys. He'll be missed. May he rest in peace.
My dad had an undying respect for his brother-in-law. I remember him telling us, "Your uncle is one of the smartest people I know". His intelligence was only matched by his kindness. Uncle Harry will be missed by many. What an incredible legacy he has left behind in his children and grandchildren.
