Harry Bernard Morris

December 17, 2017

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Harry Bernard Morris in his 87th year. Harry passed away peacefully at University Hospital, London on Sunday, December 17th, 2017 with his family by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Denise Morris for 56 years. Cherished father of Maureen Morris, Susan Gibbins, and Melanie Szaban. Special father-in-law of Tom Delaney, Dave Gibbins, and Chris Szaban. Extremely proud Grandpa of Erin, Matthew, Meaghan, Katherine, Virginia, James, Ryan, Lukas, and Ellie. Predeceased by his sisters Eileen Vrielink and Patricia Sopp. Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours. Harry was a true gentleman. He was kind, generous, thoughtful and always interested in others. His optimism and good sense of humour remained to the end. Harry deeply loved his family and taught us all the meaning of family, unconditional love and support. A puller of teeth, a storyteller, a teacher of reading, bike riding and love of music to his grandchildren. A lifelong and dedicated employee and retiree of 3M Canada. Harry’s family appreciates the extraordinary care given by Doctor Mawji and his team. Special thanks to the compassionate health care professionals on the 4th, 9th and 10th floors of University Hospital as well as the caring staff at Chartwell Riverside. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 12:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Cremation has taken place. Interment to take place in his birthplace of Montreal this spring. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in the memory of Harry are asked to consider Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario or a charity of your choice.

Dear Denise, Harry set the bar for all the cousins that followed as to how to live life. He was a caring, kind and sensitive man, who truly valued family. Never a complainer, despite his many health issues, he accepted his limitations gracefully. We will miss his "Christmas calls", and the genuine interest he showed in what was happening in the lives of others. Nor will we forget "Harry's harum" and his beautiful smile. Our thoughts are with you during this very difficult time. With fondness, Dianne and Udo

Dear Denise, Maureen, Susie, and Melanie - I am very saddened to hear of Harry's passing. He was a very loving husband, a proud father and grandfather. His face would always light up whenever he talked about any of you. He took his illness with great strength and dignity, never complaining, and talked about how he had had a very blessed life and that he was prepared for whatever was to come. I think that that was his final lesson to each and every one of us. He will be missed by, not only his family, but by his many friends.
