Greg Bierbaum

February 11, 2023

It is with sadness that the family of Greg Bierbaum announces his passing, at the age of 59, on Saturday, February 11, 2023. Greg loved to laugh, loved to smile, and most importantly, loved to live life to the absolute fullest. He was known for his strong-willed tenacity, which he carried with him everywhere he went in life. “No” was never an easy word for Greg to hear—and for good reason. He had a remarkable ability to turn what he was told he couldn’t do into something he could. Greg was a passionate, ambitious dreamer who dared to think big, inspiring those around him with his resolve and perseverance. Above all else, Greg was a builder. He was a builder of community, leading Old Oak Properties to change and expand the skyline of London, Ontario. But perhaps the greatest achievement Greg ever built was his family. He was the proud father of his three sons and loving grandfather of his grandson. Greg will live on through his children, Michael (Christina), Robert, and Steven (Dayna), his partner Sara, and his grandson Beau. A private celebration of life will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Greg are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society.

We feel so fortunate that Greg came into our lives. Although the time we enjoyed together was too short, Greg's love of life was joyful and contagious. We miss you, Greg. With loving memories, Doug and Linda Marshall

Greg’s huge spirit will never die. He remains in our hearts and will live through all those who hold him there. ❤️ When Greg entered my life, I couldn’t have imagined how our immediate, easy connection would grow and evolve into a love neither of us thought was possible. We loved each other madly! We cracked each other up, we fuelled each others dreams, we made the mundane fun, we challenged each other’s thinking, we drove each other nuts, we loved each other’s families, we took trips that blew our minds, we always celebrated our ‘crazy love’, and in the end, we said, goodbye, knowing and fully appreciating the rare opportunity we got to love and be loved so completely. We both considered ourselves very lucky despite the impact of cancer and the premature end to a life together that we loved. I am experiencing all kinds of pain as I adjust to life without my constant companion but Greg’s big energy hasn’t left my side and he offers regular comfort and reassurance as I navigate this new reality. I miss his big hugs, his unrelenting zest for life and how he could somehow make me feel like I was beautiful, magical and powerful despite all of my shortcomings. Our relationship was a priceless gift that I will never take for granted as I live on and pay forward the lessons and opportunities I get to put that big LOVE energy out into the world. I will always love and miss you Greg! ❤️

We were saddened to learn of Greg's passing. He and the entire Bierbaum family were instrumental in helping our business (in its formative years) grow to a national company. We have told this story hundreds of times over the years. Its been a long time since we lived in London but he will always be remembered by us as a hard working, creative and respected member of the community. Our deepest condolences to his family, Bernie and Carol and their families.

Greg was a wonderfully kind, warm and generous man. I will cherish the memories forever, from walks through the woods with a chocolate lab close behind, to days at the beach in Goderich, and everything in between. My deepest condolences to Michael, Robert and Steven.

Knowing Greg on a personal basis brought us so much fun and spirited adventure including concert going, downhill skiing, riding our motorcycles, travelling, spending time on golf carts, ATVs, watching sunsets, bonfires, having drinks, jamming with his guitar and spending time on Lake Huron with our families. Those memories will be with us for our lifetime. It was an honor and a privilege knowing such an epic man. Thanks Greg. Cheers with a Jager xoxo

Shocked and saddened by the news today, Greg and I grew up together from grade school to our early thirties when life took us in other directions. We had many great times and many laughs together, I often thought of him with a smile. I am so saddened and shocked to hear this news about Greg passing away. During the almost 20 years I worked at Old Oak Properties he was always wonderful to work with. I found him to be fair, kind and loving a good joke. We had some great conversations about music. Such a shame to be gone from this world so young. My condolences to his partner, family and friends. We are so very sad to hear this news. Greg was such a joyful person and always showed so much love for his boys and their friends. We are thinking of all Greg’s family and send our condolences and love.

~ Anne and Grant Pearson

Still saddened and in disbelief that Greg has passed. We spent a great deal of time together as good friends travelling, dining and doing business these past 35 years. He is so proud of his sons, as he taught them the family business as his father taught him and his siblings. He loved the arts which took us to TIFF and other festivals throughout America over the decades. He even produced a few short movies that were critically acclaimed though you’d never hear him boast about it. My deepest condolences to his boys, Robert, Michael & Steven, his brother Bernie, sister Carol and to Sara his loving partner who was beside him as he bid us farewell. May his memory be eternal, never to be forgotten and pray God bless his family now and forever.
