Peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Saturday, October 20th, 2018, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Mary Josephine Dickens (2009) whom he married on January 3rd, 1952. Cherished father of Rodney Dickens (Catherine) and Timothy Dickens. Proud Grandpa of Sarah Jonathan and Chrissy Antille. Great-grandfather of Missy. Glenn is also survived by his sister Ann Langlois. Predeceased by his siblings Percy, Clifford, Frank, Fred, Dorothy, Margorie, Shirley and Lillian. Glenn joined the Canadian Army in 1941, going overseas in 1943. He went into battle on D-Day (June 6, 1944) and continued to serve in Europe until the war was over, returning to Canada in 1945 for discharge. Glenn enjoyed golfing and had followed, and cheered for, the Detroit Tigers since the 1930s. A committed member of the Byron Optimist Club for over 30 years, Glenn, as a welder, was a proud member of Local 593. Visitation will take place at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Glenn are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex.

To all Glenn's Family .Sending my sympathy to you all,have not seen your Dad in along time ,but always liked him a lot when l did, and your Mom.My Mother was Helen Mac Donald a 1st cousin to your Dad.What a wonderful long life he had . Thinking of you all.
Tim and Rod...so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. What a great and full life he had. Always seemed like a kind man with a great sense of humor. Full sympathy from our family to yours.
My thoughts are with you Tim, I had the pleasure of working side by side with your Dad as an apprentice........still one of my all time favourite welders.
October 25, 2018 Dear Roddy, Tim and family Since hearing about Uncle Glenn's passing I have been reflecting upon past memories and on the life of both Aunt Mary and Uncle Glenn. Memories from childhood that I truly treasure. I guess the first obvious statement is; where has all the time gone? The past seems like a fleeting moment. Having said that, the lives lived by both of your parents has forever enriched those who were fortunate enough to be part of that life. Truly your Mom and Dad's marriage was a true love story. Their sons and their family are a testament to lives well lived. Uncle Glenn lived a life that was based on duty and honour and true concern for the well-being of others. This is illustrated in his service to Canada during the World War II. Landing on D-Day to return to Canada in 1945 clearly makes Uncle Glenn a survivor with tenacity. He was a person with strength of purpose, patience, kindness and resolve. Through our own memories and pictures, we can remember the husband, father, brother and uncle he was and the impact he made on all our lives. Uncle Glenn upon Aunt Mary's death shared with me that she lived a life where she had all she needed to fulfil a happy life - she had enough. One of my favourite memories is Uncle Glenn walking into the farmhouse in Denfield and after heartily greeting everyone, heads to the tap to enjoy a simple glass of water from the well. It is with regret we are not able to celebrate your Dad's life with you as we are travelling to London, England today. Take care Brenda

We send our deepest sympathy to Glen's family. Lou and I were neighbours of Glen and Mary on Nashua Ave, we were Byron Optimist and OptiMrs together for many years, we were golfing buddies for many years with Tom Hammond, Bob Corrin , Jim Ferguson and others. Glen was a good man and good friend. We will always remember him .

I was so sorry to hear of Glenn's passing. I enjoyed many years of friendship with both Glenn and Mary. We learned something from each other at every meeting. We exchanged many laughs over the years when they came into the bank. They will both be missed.
