George Wilton Hutcheson

April 20, 2022

The family of George Hutcheson is saddened to announce his passing on April 20th, 2022.

George played many roles throughout his 92 years with us including son, husband, father, brother and friend. He was born to Charles and Eliza Hutcheson on March 6th, 1930 in London, Ontario. He shared his childhood with his sisters, Retha (1971) and Marjorie. George met Margaret Burns in 1950 when he was working as a garage mechanic and she was painting lawn furniture across the street. George and Margaret married in 1954 and shared many adventures together before Margaret’s passing in 2017, not the least of which are their surviving children, John (Ruth), Susan, and Brenda (Joseph). George is remembered by his grandchildren Michael, Travis, and Jessica. George was a tireless car enthusiast, having worked at Ford Talbotville for many years where he made innumerable lifelong friends. We all learned a lot from George, particularly about hard work and perseverance. Our world seems a little quieter in his absence but we remain grateful for the peace of his passing. There will be a private family service to celebrate George’s life.

If you wish, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be gratefully appreciated.

So sorry to hear of George's passing. Our condolences to George's family and friends who knew him well and would most certainly have comforted him later in life. I got to know George during our years at Ford Talbotville and I always appreciated his candor & wry sense of humor. I'm sure his later years must have been immensely difficult - but George was a trooper! He will certainly be missed - RIP George.

I knew ‘Mr. Hutcheson’ a lifetime ago. He’s the kind of fellow that takes up space by which I mean, he fills up a room, in the best of ways. There was never any question of what he thought of you. He was a man, an olde worlde manly man and unapologetically so…too few of those left in this world. George is not an easy man to forget, and I’ve tried. Although time takes the edges off our memories and I’m glad to have known him. He gave me something, even though at the time I didn’t know I was getting it. I remember dreading asking George anything as he had a way of giving you the history of the clock if you accidentally asked him what time it was. If I’m honest, I’d have to admit that I’ve become that way myself over time. Respect and Godspeed, ‘Mr. Hutcheson’…George.
