George E. Medland
May 4, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of George E. Medland, in his 87th year. Predeceased by his wife of 42 years, the late Marian (2018); as well as his first wife, the late Elizabeth “June” (Renaud) (2000). Dearly loved by his daughter, Patricia (Martin) Hettwer. Cherished Grandpa to Alicia (Alex), and Mark Hettwer; and the Dixon family. Predeceased by his grandson, Martin Patrick Hettwer (1992); his parents, Violet M. Medland (Wimperis) (1984) and Beverly John Medland (1984); his sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Miller; and brothers: Donald (1933), Charles (Bud) (2016), and Harold (Pete) Medland (2019). George was a longtime employee of Charterways Transportation Limited. He had travelled to all of our Canadian provinces and to all of the States with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii. He was a happy man when his wife Marian could join him on his travels. A special thank you to Dr. Donahue, and the staff at the St. Thomas General Hospital – Oncology Department for their exceptional care, and to the LHIN/ CCAC for their support over the last few years. The family would like to also thank The Manor Village at London for their care and compassion during George’s four months stay; his nurses were amazing! Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of George are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society.

So sad to hear of George's passing. Our condolences to the family.
I have a very heavy heart today as I learned my ol' friend and client has passed.....I was his PSW when he was still living at home .... He was a great friend to me and my wife as well. My wife used to see Marian as well..... I remember my wife and I taking George to the Sunset Restaurant for a Liver dinner ....I had the onions with mine and George couldn't .... We talked and talked and reminiscences about our travels and funny things we did growing up ...... To Patricia and family I am so sorry for your loss ... Your father was a great man .... I truly loved him as a good friend and he will never be forgotten in our home..... Rest now George ol' buddy see you on the other side.
