1923-2017 – Surrounded by the love of his family, George passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, April 17, 2017. Dearly loved husband of Gert for 43 years. Loving father of Brenda Seager (Jim), Eva Berringer (Gord Swan 2007) and Kelly Weyler (Dale). Treasured grandfather of Matthew (Kim). Best friend and brother of Beryl. Fondly remembered uncle of his many nieces and nephews. Step-grandfather of Katy and Michael Swan. He was a special friend and neighbour to many. George was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne (née Pybus 1969), his parents Aden and Ollie, brother Edward and sister Ruth. George began his life on a farm in South Brookfield, Nova Scotia. He joined the RCAF and served overseas during WWII. He came to London in 1948 and worked at Loblaws until his retirement. George was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Riverview and an active member of Byron United Church for many years. George was an avid gardener. His dahlias were his special pride and joy. He was a golfer, a bridge player, and always a great story-teller. At the age of 83, he started to write poetry. He leaves behind a wealth of words, wisdom and humour. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A memorial service will be conducted at Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London, on Friday, April 21st, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of George are asked to consider the Byron United Church Memorial Fund or the charity of your choice.

The uncle with the best sense of humour and style. Always interested in you rather than talking about himself. Looked out for my mom after dad died. Still use the finer points of buying meat he thought my dad and were passed along. Rest in peace, Steve, Courtney and Taylor
I am convinced that no one better than God, understands the depth of your pain and can help you cope with your disquieting thoughts. Please believe the words of Psalm 34:18 "Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." Until the blissful day of resurrection comes in the Paradise, where no one will be sick and die, may you receive God's peace that excels all thought, so that it will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus. My condolences for the loss of someone so dear.
Oh the memories I have of George Berringer from Trinity days are so precious.!!! Always a gentle man with a warm smile... Every time I would meet him he would give me the warmest smile!!!..A really kind soul. Blessings as you travel this journey... Thinking of you at this difficult time...
It is with sadness that we learn of George,s passing ,when ever we had a chance ,that was not often enough we always enjoyed George,s stories and company as you already know . We cannot say enough about the care that both of these compassionate people (Gert) showed our Mother Shirley during her last years on Griffith St. always looking out for her and others that needed a helping hand few are left like these two , unfortunately ! We are sure he is missed by all his family with only memories to cherish .....
Dear Eva: We're so sorry to hear of your Dad's death. Katy and Mike have always spoken very highly of him. He sounds like a wonderful person and we know how much you'll miss him. We hope that the love and support of family and friends will help you through this difficult time.
Brenda and Eva - so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I knew your family when you went to Trinity many years ago and after moving away, we lost track. I am working on gathering the history of Trinity, and your family name keeps popping up. I did not realize that your dad still lived in London. He was such a hard worker at Trinity, a gentleman at all times and just some good memories of that time frame. Blessings are asking for a peace to come into your lives after dealing with this. Sincere condolences.

Dear Eva, Gert, Brenda, Jim, Matthew and family, We are so incredibly sorry to hear of George's passing. He was such a wonderful man who was so full of life that it's hard to imagine he's no longer with us. We didn't see him that often and yet always felt like an important part of his family.
