Gary Edward McGregor

Gary died peacefully at the Village of Glendale Crossing in London on Monday, October 3, 2022, in his 92nd year, leaving behind his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth “Libby” McGregor, and his children, Kim (late Ted Froud), Kathy (Bob Destun), and Andrew (Martha McGregor). His beautiful daughter, Carolyn “Cook” Greenway, and precious grandson, Thomas McGregor, predeceased him. Gary is predeceased by his sister Pat Derbyshire and missed by his brother-in-law Jim Derbyshire.

Gary took great pride in watching his family grow. He was “Gramps” to 14 beloved grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and “Uncle Gary” to many nieces and nephews.

Born and raised in Toronto, Gary was a general manager in various industries throughout his working career and proud owner of GEM Limousines in his final business venture. Gary also served on many boards over the years.

Gary was a private man with a few close and long-time friends whom he treasured. He cherished the cottage in Port Stanley, sailing on the “Liberator,” and was an avid fan of car racing and football. Gary loved drumming and listening to music, especially jazz. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate and loving care he received at Glendale Crossing and at University and Victoria hospitals over the last few months. Cremation has taken place.

A memorial reception will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. to celebrate Gary’s life and to share memories and fellowship with family and friends. Those wishing to attend are free to drop in anytime between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. A private family interment at Union Cemetery will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your charity of choice in Gary’s memory would be deeply appreciated.
