Garth Richard Beamish
December 5, 2010
BEAMISH, Garth Richard – A quiet gentle soul who enriched our lives with his love and innocence, passed away surrounded by family in the serenity of his home on Sunday, December 5th, 2010. He was 53. Garth was the beloved son of W.R. “Dick” Beamish and the late Shirley M. Beamish, precious brother to Maureen Dragasevich (John), Heather Vitali (Greg), and Grant Beamish (Joan Lamoureux), and wonderful uncle to his nieces and nephew, Erin, Mark and Shannon Dragasevich, Ashley and Sarah Vitali, and Leah and Chloe Beamish. He will be missed by his golfing buddy and lifelong friend, Rick Pettigrew, and his colleagues at Highbury Ford, where he was a dedicated employee for 16 years. Garth was a loyal Maple Leafs supporter, music lover, and arguably the most ardent fan of Paul McCartney and The Beatles on the planet. He was also blessed with the wisdom to preserve and celebrate the child within him, and derive true joy from life’s simple pleasures. Garth inspired us with his tolerance, acceptance, and kindness. Friends may call at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North on Friday, December 10th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Aidan’s Anglican Church, 1246 Oxford Street West, on Saturday, December 11th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to London Regional Cancer Program (Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund) c/o London Health Sciences Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Eva Gyacskov-Melter, Dr. Maria Parent, Grace Bradish, and all the doctors, nurses and community caregivers who provided such thoughtful support to Garth and our family.

SO sorry to hear about Garth..just found out today, through some old friends in Oakrdidge. I always saw him on the bus tea last few years and one day, didn't see him any more. I knew his family and neighbours as we all attended Clara Brenton PS in Oakridge. Oddly , I've been working at Highbury Ford for almost 2 years now. So sorry to hear although it's been more than a couple of years. Condolences to friends and especially family.
Dear Grant We would like to give our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your brother.
I went all through school with Garth and I know the world has lost a sweet kind , loving soul. I have not seen him since graduation as I moved to Florida shortly after but I have many memories of him. His hockey knowledge was amazing. I know he enriched all of your lives . I know he will be remembered by all of us from Clara Brenton on through Oakridge High . My thoughts and prayers are with you all of you.
Greg, Heather, Ashley, Sarah. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families during this diificult time.
I remember Garth from my days at Fleck Manufacturing. A quiet, hardworking, happy fellow. Sorry to hear he left us so early.
Garth will be dearly missed. He was a kind and gentle soul and a good friend.
Some of my fondest memories are of the summers on Balsam Lake and fishing with Garth. The Madeley family sends it`s thoughts and prayers.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you and your families during this difficult time.
Garth will surely be missed by all who knew him & we will think of him always with fondness & be glad he is no longer in pain.
My condolences to your family. I remember Garth from Clara Brenton back in the '60s.
Garth was a gentle soul indeed! His ability to embrace life with all its pleasures is a reminder to each of us to do the same. Although many years ago, we have great memories of our family get-togethers in London and Sarnia and those days are held close to our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Garth's loved ones. Peace.
Garth was one of my many cousins who, for simple geographical and logistical reasons, I realize I've had far too few opportunities to visit. Although Garth was a mere one year older than I, he and his siblings always held a special place in my heart. We were close despite being so far away. Many people in their comments have cited Garth as very gentle, a kind human being and a tender-heart. I'd agree with all of those descriptions and add another. I recall a terrific sense of humor and some well-placed witticisms that surely made him unique. He was a wonderful guy and clearly well-loved. I (along with my son) send our deepest condolences to the entire Beamish clan et al, for the overwhelming sadness there is in losing someone so dear and much sooner than 'their time'. May the angels be with you all, bringing you peace.
Garth was a very gentle person, he loved life, he loved golf, he loved his friends but most of all I remember he loved his family. I have not seen Garth for a long time but I remember his smurky laugh when he caught a fish at Balsom lake, or he made a nice shot on the golf course, he would never harm a flea and was a wonderful person, he will be missed by everyone. One little note that many people might not know Garth still holds the corn cob eating record at Balsom lake it was 18 and counting when we stopped counting. good bye Garth and thank you for calling me your friend, it was my honour to have known you.
I did not have the pleasure of knowing Garth personally; but from what I have heard he was a very special person and will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with the Beamish family during this difficult time. (Hugs)
I knew Garth all my life as he knew me since my diaper days and along the way we shared a lot of laughs about sports and cartoons and so many other interesting conversations too. Those memories will always be treasured and he will always be missed and never forgotten. I'm relieved he's at peace now and out of his pain. Always a fun guy with a smile on his face and a laugh with it!
My condolences. We were neighbours and I remember helping him to build a plastic model car in his bedroom, so many years ago. Dale
I remember Garth's first day of work at Fleck Mfg. He was so excited about it. He came into our Engineering department, which his dad was the Manager of. He was a dedicated employee then, for his first job. I have lots of memories of Garth. To the family and friends I' am so sorry to hear about his passing! He was a very kind person. I would like to tell one little story about Garth. He was not in a good humor one morning and used my Metal phone directory but got a little upset and he mangled it. All never forgot that day.(1984 ish) All was good. He was a good person. I have often thought about him. sincere condolences. Cathy

Garth, so sorry to hear about your passing, my condolences to family and friends. I remember a couple of stories, both involving golf, go figure with Garth being an avid golfer. Now I am not sure who switch the real ball with a exploding one, but when Garth stepped up and hit the ball so hard and when it exploded, wow. With everyone laughing, Garth took it all in stride. Another time with Rick, myself and Garth golfing, Garth hit a tree that was laying in the fairway and came back further then it went out. With Rick and I laughing, Garth retrieved the ball and hit it straight down the fairway. That was Garth to me, never let things get to him, never got mad and took things all in stride. Will miss u.
