On behalf of the Bresar, Araujo and Dos Santos families, I would like to thank everyone that is her today and those who have sent their condolences. My name is Audrey, and I am Gabriella’s, Teta Jelka’s, niece. Teta Jelka’s capacity for unconditional love was seen in her unwavering support and generosity for her children and grandchildren. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, encouraging, positive and loving. Teta Jelka loved big and lived hard. Her life wasn’t without twists and turns or obstacles, but she met each one with a strength and determination to move forward. Regrets were few because the gifts of her journey came in the form of Tatiana, Mira, and Frank. She loved them wholly and completely, never passing judgment or negativity. This love filtered down to her grandchildren, especially Daniel and Dylan, impacting their lives with her knowledge, wisdom, and enormous selfless heart. She was a second mother to them and always put their needs ahead of her own. She was the epitome of what a doting grandmother should be. Teta Jelka had an infectious laugh, much like her own mother’s, and this laugh could be heard for miles away. Mary inherited that same boisterous laugh, and when they were together, they were unapologetic about being loud, and truthfully, it was a delight to see. The Bresar family is not known for being quiet ?. The two of them were each other’s best friends, leaning on one another through the good and bad. They complemented each other wonderfully, as mother and daughter normally do. They shared a love of music, and Teta Jelka was quick to memorize the lyrics of whatever Mary was listening to so she could sing alongside her daughter, like Moves Like Jagger, which ironically played on the car radio as they made their way to what would be her new home for almost 10 years. From the time she was a young girl in Slovenia, she always loved to dance. This is another shared love between mother and daughter and you would always find them tearing up the dance floor at weddings, festas and parties. Teta Jelka created beautiful memories of her grandchildren, Daniel, Dylan, Lisa, Christina, Joseph, Louis, Adam, Nicholas, and Cole, and her great-grandchildren, Liam, Peyton, Lila, Paisley, Trent, and Lukas, and her wonderful and supportive sister-in-law Claudia, her late brother John’s widow, Aline, and her sons-in-law, David and Louie, and daughter in-law, Domenica, along with her nieces and nephews. These memories are forever etched into our hearts. She is survived by her loving younger brother, Joseph, and older sister, Angela, who is battling her own illness as this time, and could not be here with us today, but she and her husband, Boris, are here in spirit and our thoughts and prayers are with them. Teta Jelka was loved by her entire family and extended family, many of which have sadly gone before her and are welcoming her home. There will definitely be a party up there now that she has joined them. We miss her and have missed her for many years but we know she is in a better place now, reunited with her mother, brother and two infant sisters. “We know and accept death as part of life, and at times, we welcome it, if only to end the suffering of those we love, but the heartache is real, and no less painful when it is time to say goodbye…if only until we meet again.”
