Surrounded by family at University Hospital, Fred peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, in his 82nd year. Fred enjoyed a 60 year marriage with his sweetie Donna. Proud father of Brad (Ruth), Dean, Lori (Bob) and Terri (Craig). Lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his sister Dorothy “Toots”, extended family and many friends. Predeceased by three brothers, his mother and father. Fred was well known in the community as “The Apple Man” of the London Covent Garden Market. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Fred are asked to consider LHSF – University Hospital ICU.

To The Van Schaik Family, Very sorry to hear Fred passed away. He was a great guy and fun to be around. I remember visiting the house growing up and enjoying my conversations with him. I am sure he will be sadly missed. My sympathy goes out to your family. Sincerely David Favell

Our sincere condolences on the news of Fred's passing. We have fond memories of his visits to Sunderland and the time shared with our two families. He was a very nice and gentle man and we were glad to have known him. Love the Teefy's
