Flora Chan

After a brief but fierce battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts, Flora Wai-Ching Chan (née Lam) went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the age of 61, with her loving husband by her side.
Dedicated wife of 35 years to Emil Nam-Cheung Chan. Steadfast mother of 32 years to Joseph (Lo-Anne) Chan. Doting and cherished grandmother to Tyson Xavier Chan, Victoria Anastasia Chan, Theodore Jerome Chan, and Olivia Mackenzie Chan. Daughter to Yau-Hing Ngai. Sister to Kit-Ching (Siu-Ho) Chan, Kong-Sang Lam, John Wai-Sang Lam, and Lok-Sang (Helen) Lam. Aunt to Jessalyn Lam and Michael Lin. Predeceased by her father, Lok Lam; mother-in-law, Siu-Fung Lim; and father-in-law, Choi-Leung Chan.
Flora grew up in Hong Kong, where she was also born on August 26, 1959. She moved to Canada in 1985, after reuniting with and marrying her childhood sweetheart, Emil. They established deep roots in London, Ontario, where they were a regular presence at London Chinese Alliance Church. Flora’s selflessness, generosity, love of conversation, and passion for music will be sorely missed by friends and family.
Emil and Joseph took Flora out on a final outing on a sunny Easter Sunday, where she was able to take her grandchildren to the nearby park. She watched her grandchildren play on the playground one last time with her husband and son beside her; the same park she always took Joseph to throughout his childhood.
Flora was incredibly grateful for the efforts of all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals that cared for her. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Flora are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Registration is required to attend the visitation.

A private funeral service will be conducted on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Since the service is by invite only, the family welcomes friends to view the service via livestream.

I'd known Flora for over 20 years and she's a beloved sister in Christ. She's well-accepted as one of the most generous and honest souls we'd met. She'd opened her house to young, old and anyone in between. May her soul rest in peace! May the Lord console Emil, Joe, and her family whom she loved dearly. Flora would be missed dearly in our Christian community.

I have known Flora since our early 20` in HK. She is really a true, generous and steadfast friend. We have many good times together that are irreplaceable. It is hard to believe Flora has left us. Our deepest sympathies to Emil and his son for the loss of their cherished Flora. As her name implies, she was a beautiful flower inside and out. She loved to wear all shades of pink and to adorn her hair with fancy ties and hats for special occasions. Her inner beauty shone through as she reached out with a genuine caring and sharing of concern for others. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and neighbours.

Flora and Emil and the whole LCAC community were so kind to me for the 8 years that God enabled me to serve as English Ministry Pastor at LCAC which involved helping Joe and his church friends through their teen years. Emil and Flora would very graciously welcome large groups into their home and show us such hospitality. May God comfort this dear family in their grief.
Never forgotten: Your kindness to others, your endeavour to persevere, your pure and true heart, your enlightened mind, your infectious laughs... May the Lord comfort Emil, Joe and the family.
