Eric Whalley
February 6, 2014
With sadness we announce the passing of Eric Whalley peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen (October 2011) and his parents Horace and Elizabeth. Loving father of David (Nancy), Cheryl and Lisa (Steve), adored grandfather of April (Adam), Stephanie (Dan), Jennifer, Whitney and Chloe. Great grandfather of Jackson and Lincoln. Dear brother of Kath, Jean (Alan) and brother-in-law of Phil, all of the U.K. Predeceased by sister Heather and brother-in-law George. Also remembered by 5 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews in Ontario, Michigan, the U.K. and Hong Kong.
Eric came to Canada with his numerous skills in his early twenties. It was here that he met the love of his life, Eileen and established Eric Whalley Construction, a highly regarded company that carried on business in southwestern Ontario for over 50 years.
Eric was known for his honesty and his sense of commitment to his customers, employees and the various sub-trades who worked on his projects. Even in retirement, people who previously had never met Eric would recognize his name and associate it with quality homes.
In addition to being a successful businessman, he was a loving husband and a proud father. He cherished his time with his family and made a point of taking family trips on a regular basis. Eric was also a spiritual man whose faith in Jesus Christ was very important to him. He always welcomed the opportunity to share that faith with others.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ray and Marion Meredith for the love and support shown in recent months and, in fact, over the years. What they have done will never be forgotten. A special thanks as well to the staff in Palliative Care on the sixth floor at University Hospital for the kindness and care they provided.
Family interment will take place in the spring. A celebration of life will be held at North Park Community Church on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider Teen Challenge or New Life Prison Ministry.

Sorry to hear of Eric's passing, I worked for Eric for 13 years and I have many good memories of that time. May he rest in peace.
A real gentleman ! One of my first clients when I came to London in 1983. He was a real pleasure to work with and I'll never forget his kindness to me, not just in business, but also as a friend.
To the Whalley family: I was sorry to hear of Eric's passing. I enjoyed doing business with Eric for many years. Bud Callahan
Lisa, David, & Cheryl, my heart and prayers are with you and your families.
Lisa, David, Cheryl Thoughts and prayers to each of you. I know you have many happy family memories and I pray these memories will comfort you during this time of sadness. My father Edgar always spoke highly of Eric and respected his work ethic and high standards. Blessings, Mary Rawlings
My sorrow and sympathy is felt and shared at this passing of my Father-In-Law Eric. I received much of whom I am by learning from his example,In business, his principals, his faith and his quoting of Proverbs about life. He was a man I watched take 2 stairs at a time in his 70's. Eric said more in five words than I could say in a 100. Eric was a rare man people wished they could be. If he was in the army he would of been a General. Eric serveal times compared his height with other people In my opinion he is one of the tallest men I know. In his life I told him I loved him and In his death there is a big hole In this world. By faith in Jesus I know he is in heaven and I would like him to be part of that welcoming party when I join him. I Loved him in life and Love him in death.
Dear Whalley Family. So sorry to hear of Eric's passing. I have many memories of Eric and his great sense of humour. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of grieving.
I wanted to express my heartfelt condolences at the passing of Eric. My father, Ken Peckings, worked with Eric for years as his salesman, they had a very close relationship. Eric was part of our family for many years, dad was totally committed to Eric Whalley Homes, they were the best! My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We remember Eric for his energy, work ethic, vision and deep personal faith. Eric and Eileen welcomed us when our organization needed space to launch a national office out of London. Eric quietly served by taking care of all the grounds work, and loved his riding mower! I recall many chats over the years regarding his love of Bible prophecy and the challenge to be ready for our heavenly calling. We thank God for this precious couple and extend heartfelt sympathies to the family. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants."
