Passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, November 27, 2020, in her 92nd year. Dearly loved mother of Maria Mota (Abilio), Antonio Mosquito (Preciosa), Diamantino De Jesus (Deirdre), Palmira Da Costa (Joaquim), Nela Nogueira (Manuel), all of London, and Leanor Dos Reis (Manuel), of Valencia, Venezuela. Cherished grandmother of Paula (Jose), Sonia (Jonathan), Teresa (Mike), Luiza (Nelson), Rui, Jose Manuel, Yesenia, Michelle (Jake), Nicole (Jamie), Tania (Brandon), Christina, Miguel (Chantal), and Nick; great-grandmother of Robin, Mikayla, Daniella, Bruno, Adriana, Anthony, Sofia, Bella, Sebastian, Maxwell, Anderson, Oscar, and Emilia. Predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Jose Godinho De Jesus (2004); and her daughter, Lourdes Mosquito (1989).
Emilia was born in Atalaia, Portugal on July 15, 1929. She lived a traveled life, leaving Portugal for Moçambique, and then raising her family in Umtali, Rhodesia. In 1982, she settled in London, Ontario, Canada with her husband and their large, close-knit family, where she lived the best years of her life. Emilia will forever be remembered for her strength and determination, and her love for her family and their traditions.
Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., where a funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Registration is required to attend the visitations and funeral service.

Please note: as per the directive of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario, attendance numbers will be restricted. Please be aware that COVID-19 protocols are in place which may preclude some from being able to attend and masks are mandatory.
The family wishes to express deepest thanks to the nurses and PSWs for their outstanding and diligent care of Emilia in the last few months of her life. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Emilia are asked to consider the London Health Sciences Foundation – Urgent Medicine.
