Emil Cekada
November 7, 2015
It is with a heavy heart that Zalka Cekada announces the passing of her beloved husband, Emil, on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at University Hospital. He will be missed by his sisters Fanika and Malka, brother Mario, and many nieces and nephews. Emil will also be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Jadranka and Stojanka, and their families. Predeceased by his sisters Milka and Pavla. Emil was a cabinet maker by trade, and spent 12 years doing maintenance at UWO. He was extremely passionate about music, dance and entertaining others, and made friends easily. Emil touched the lives of many; both in Slovenia and here in Canada. He was a dedicated member for 39 years of Holy Family Parish and the Slovenian Culture Club. Friends are welcome to come sign the book of condolences and attend a memorial service (Mass) at the SLOVENIAN CULTURAL AND SOCIAL CLUB “TRIGLAV”, 9614 Charlton Drive, Middlesex Centre, on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A luncheon will be available at the club at 12:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Emil are asked to consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario. A special thank you to Dr. Marc Lipkus, Dr. Shannon Venance, Dr. Anita Dayal, Dr. Marko Mrkobrada, Dr. Stephanie Tse, Cheryl Talbot R.N., and the staff at London Health Sciences Centre for their wonderful care and kindness. Also a tremendous thank you to his family physician, Dr. Eric Nicholls, as well as Joan and Carmen at Whitehills Medical Centre, for their excellent care and compassion over the years.

Dear Zalka, It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we extend our deepest condolences to you and your family. Emil was a great human being and a man who made a tremendous impact on those around him. His genuine warmth, his all encompassing smile and his passion for life combined with his deep pride in being a Canadian by choice and Slovenian by birth is what made him truly inspiring. We will never forget his love of Slovenian music, dance, song and culture. He was an inspiration and his acts of kindness will never be forgotten. May God grant him eternal rest with the angels in heaven. Naj mu bo lahka Kanadska gruda. Dragi Emil, pocivaj v bozjem miru. Joze in Magda, Monika in Lojze z Lilijo, Jozi in Molly, Kristijan xo
