Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Van Doorne

August 27, 2016

Peacefully, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, on Saturday, August 27, 2016, Elizabeth Van Doorne passed away at the age of 58. Loving daughter of Catharine and the late Frank Van Doorne. Cherished sister of Antoinette (Bill) Wilson, of London, and Catherine Van Doorne Lachance (Roy), of Victoria. Dear aunt of Brian (Jacquie McKinnon) Wilson and David (Monica Fletcher) Wilson, of London. Greatest Aunt of Baby Adam. Liz was the alto soloist at New St. James Presbyterian and First-St. Andrew’s United churches, and became a valued member of London Pro Musica. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Vincent, Dr. Pamela Smith and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassionate care. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the memorial service will be conducted on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. It is with sadness in my heart that I write a final note to Liz. I went to high school with Liz and, along with a close group of friends, we shared many good times. If there was anything about Liz that really stood out, it was her very positive nature. There was only sunshine. Years passed by, albeit too quickly. I reconnected with Liz over 18 months ago after reading of her impressive achievements over the years. It was as if time had never elapsed. It was then Liz advised me of the darkness, yet her inner strength persevered. My heart and prayers remained with Liz from that moment. There is no doubt Liz brought forth warmth and zeal to any environment; she was so genuine. I will always remember. Con amore, Rick

We worked with Liz in various productions for MTP. She was a mentor who willingly shared her knowledge and gift for theatre. She has been taken far too young, but touched many lives. Our sincerest sympathy to family.

I was saddened to read of the loss of your loved one. When we lose our loved one in death it is the most difficult time in our life. However, there is loving comfort in Psalms 55:22 to "throw your burden on God and he will sustain you.." Yes, no matter what you are facing God is there to help you get through it. I would also like to share something very reassuring, in 1 Corinthians 15:26 it mentions how God views death as an enemy he plans to get rid of forever. And at John 5:28,29 it mentions how those in the memorial tombs will come out. So, we will have the wonderful chance to see our loved ones again. For more information please visit JW.org. May you continue to have the love and support from family and friends. I sincerely hope that this Bible message brings you a measure of comfort during this difficult time.
