Eleanor Doreen Sharpe
February 12, 2025
Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London on February 12, 2025 at the age of 87. During her lengthy battle with cancer, Eleanor faced her illness with incredible strength and grace. Her ability to maintain a positive outlook and make others laugh during such challenging times will remain an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Born to Ila (née Sweitzer) & Verne Sharpe in Shipka, Ontario, Eleanor grew up on the family farm where she shared many adventures with her brother Glenn (deceased) and extended family. Her love for family turned into a lifelong passion for genealogy, spending countless hours uncovering and documenting family history. She was also an avid gardener and talented artist. Eleanor was a long-standing member of the Lambeth Art Association and London Orchid Society. Her unwavering faith in God led her to Byron United Church, where she was an active member of the congregation for many years.
Lovingly remembered by her niece Camilla Sharpe of Uxbridge and nephew Kevin Sharpe of Toronto. Dear great-aunt to Riley Millman of Uxbridge and sister-in-law to Roslynn (Graham) Sharpe of London. She will be dearly missed by her many friends, neighbours and extended family.
The family wish to thank the Byron United Church and all her friends for the love and support provided during her illness, and to the team at St Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion in her final months.
A Celebration of Life to honour Eleanor will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025 at the Byron United Church, 420 Boler Road, London. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and a service will commence at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Parkhill Cemetery, 33095 Grand Bend Road, Parkhill to follow.

I worked with Eleanor at Northern Life for a number of years. We also chummed together, went to dances, to the lake at Grand Bend and I spent some time on the farm with her and her family. We have not seen each other over the past number of years but sent letters and Christmas cards. She will be greatly missed by me.
