Elaine Brubacher

June 27, 2018

Passed away in her 81st year at University Hospital in London, Ontario, on Wednesday June 27, 2018. Elaine was born March 3, 1938. She was the youngest of four children to the late Stanley and Bernice (Shantz) Brubacher of Ayr, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by her sister Margaret (married to late Cecil Ashley), brother Glen and his wife Elizabeth, and sister-in-law Lorraine (wife to late brother John). She will be lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Elaine began her teaching career in Heidelberg, and then established roots in London. She loved music and used it creatively, teaching music therapy at the Children’s Psychiatric Research Institute (CPRI) for 25 years. Elaine was very active in volunteer work in retirement. She was devoted to family and friends and was supported by a deep Christian faith and church community. In March, many family members gathered to celebrate Elaine’s 80th birthday, even some by electronic means, including a great grandniece in Texas. With help, Elaine was able to manage her illness at home for several years. She was always optimistic, interested in others, loved email and phone calls. In her short stay in hospital she was surrounded by love, family and friends. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Elaine are asked to consider Teen Challenge.
