April 7, 2025

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Edris Louise Parkinson-Opolsky, who left us peacefully at the age of 75. Born on July 10, 1949, in Jamaica to Edwin Parkinson and Melita Smith. Edris was the youngest of 10 siblings; Eric (deceased), Lola (deceased), Cynthia, Clara, Hesus, Robert, Jane (deceased), Elma (deceased), and Carmen. Edris brought warmth, strength, and love into the lives of everyone who knew her.

Edris immigrated to Montreal, Canada, where she began a career in nursing, laid down strong roots and built a beautiful life. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she was known for her generosity, resilience and unwavering devotion to her family.

She is survived by her four beloved children: Sandra, Barbara, Harry and Brenda, and six cherished grandchildren: Morgan, Brandon, Cameron, Lincoln, Hannah, and Daphne. Edris was the heart of her family, and her legacy will live on in the lives she touched with her kindness and love.

A funeral service to celebrate Edris’s life will be conducted on Monday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance and to honor a life well lived and a battle with cancer well fought.

We were so lucky to have Edris as our neighbour for almost 19 years. At first, we only knew that she was friendly, grew beautiful flowers, and worked hard! Over time we were lucky to get to know her better and I learned of her kindness, strength, and perseverance. She was so generous, and so genuinely interested in what Jack was up to. Our condolences to all who loved her.

Although saddened at the passing of my Aunty Louise, I am glad, she is no longer suffering and is at rest in God's peace. Louise may be gone, but she will live forever in my heart; cherished memories of time spent together will never fade. Praying we will meet again on that 'beautiful shore.' Till then, rest in God's eternal peace. Sincere condolences to the family.

Louise was not only my beloved sister, she was also my friend: My world will be a little less bright without her in it, but she live forever in my heart as I hold onto the memories of the fellowship we shared. God saw her sufferings and called her into His rest. Praying, " the circle will be unbroken" a song Louise loved to sing. Rest in God's peace my sister. Heartfelt condolences to the family. Your sister Cynthia.

It’s hard to put into words what someone truly means to you until they’re gone. Louise wasn’t just my mother-in-law—she was a steady, generous presence in my life. She had this quiet strength, a way of making people feel seen and heard without ever needing the spotlight. One of the most beautiful parts of knowing her was watching the bond she had with Hannah and Daphne. She was an incredible grandmother—patient, playful, and endlessly loving. Whether it was reading stories, sharing snacks, or just sitting together in comfortable silence, she made them feel safe and adored. The way their faces lit up when she walked in said everything. Her love for them was deep and constant, and I know that even though she’s no longer physically here, her presence will stay with them as they grow. They’ll carry her kindness, her calm, and her quiet sense of joy with them always. I’ll miss our conversations, her humour, her perspective, and the way she held the family together with love and quiet strength. I’m deeply grateful for the time we had, the example she set, and the love she gave—steadily and unconditionally. Louise may be gone, but her influence lives on in all of us.
