I worked with Wayne during his time at the University of Calgary. Professionally he took on a research problem and made it his own and became a prolific, responsible and trusted researcher of international stature. On the personal side, he was able to do those things because he had the character and drive in his personality. He was friendly and engaging with those around him and a perennial cookie baker. The world is poorer because he is no longer with us. I hope everyone who knew him is able to share memories and my thoughts are with his family.

Though my overlap with Wayne at the NRCan office in Ottawa was brief (I retired in 2009), I remember him as an easy-going, friendly guy. Later he became a golf buddy, for several years cajoling a rough 4-some to enter the annual fall NRCan golf tournament. My kindest thoughts go out to Jenn and the family.

I just found out about the loss of Wayne. My condolences to the family. I was at the University of Calgary when Wayne was doing his Masters. We were friends during his time in Calgary and just hung out and watched movies to wind down from our grind in grad school. We did not keep in touch but I did read and view some postings on Facebook. Wayne was like my adopted kid brother while we were at University. He was fun to be with. I am so sorry that he has left us far too soon.

~ Evelyn Siegfried

I worked for many years with Wayne's father Gary at London City Hall. Over the years we heard about Wayne and how proud Gary and Sharon were of him. We are very sorry for your loss.
