My father was the kind of man a kid looked up to. A dad a man wanted to emulate. He was the smartest person I have ever met. Yet was quiet and modest. Dad the impact you made on me helped me grow into the person I am today. I'll miss you more then you could ever have known. But you will be with me forever, as the type of man I want to be.

~ David King

My father as my brother David has said earlier was a man a kid could and should look up to. As a Doctor of Medicine and in particular Obstetrics and Gynecology he embraced life and it's creation and dedicated his career to ensuring the safe delivery of child and the health of the mother ensuring both would thrive and survive. As a specialist in the field he was the man called upon when woman and child most needed his help. I know because I was there as a child and adolescent growing up with the usual call at 3 am from the hospital asking for him to come in and and do what he was trained to do but most importantly loved to do. He was a man of immense talent, incredible intellect and wisdom but very quiet and modest. Two things of many he taught me were Number One : Finish what you start and follow through. Number Two : If you want to go fast go slow you make fewer mistakes that way and be faster than you ever imagined. A man of integrity and honesty I have never seen matched in my 51 years as his son. I feel very privileged to have had him as a father. He also enjoyed a good laugh and was a big fan of Rowan Atkinson ( his skits at Boston College other than Mr. Bean are well worth watching ) He was also a big fan of Monty Python, George Carlin ( whom he shared many of his views on life and government ) . He was conservative by nature but a man who was loyal and always had your back. I will carry his memory and his teachings about life and wisdom with me for the rest of my life. For that I am deeply grateful and will continue to strive to be like the man my father was.
