Dearest Dr. Maharaj, My memories of you will always be wonderful. You took such amazing care of me as a child me you helped bring my first child into the world. I was so thrilled to meet up with you again at Dr. Siobhan's clinic. You were truly one of a kind. You were never rushed, always took the time to ask about my children and my parents (who also were under your care for many, many years). My daughter Siobhan's name was inspired by your daughter. I saw your Siobhan grow up during my frequent visits to your practice on Hale Street and through the many stories told by your lovely wife Clare as we waited to be seen. Such nice memories. Thank you for your continued care and kindness over the many years. May you rest in peace and love. To your family... May you find peace and comfort in the memories of this lovely man. My thoughts and prayer are with you as you journey through the difficult days ahead. Glenda (Maxner) Enright

Dear Liam & Family, I have just heard of your Father's passing, and am sad for you. I remember so well in those good old days how fondly you spoke of your Father He must have been a wonderful fellow of great character to have a son like you. I shall say a prayer that God will keep you and family strong through this rough time. Respectfully yours, John Fluelling
Dear Damien and family: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your father. I attended UWO with you in the late eighties and you told me often good things about your father and your mother. May he rest in peace.
our condolences from our family to yours he will be missed
Our condolences to the Maharaj's family. We missed him very much. I still remember Dr.Maharaj made a point to came to our office to meet our 18 year old son Edwin 15 years ago and give him points how to get into medical school, and how to become the top in medicine. Thanks to his guidance, Ed has become a fellow as well as teaching internal medicine in Calgary. He came to visit us during Christmas and noticed the news of the passing of Dr maharaj, his mentor. Ed still remembers Dr. Maharaj said" You not only want to become a doctor , you want to become the best in your field." " just like your father is best in his field" Dr. Maharaj, you are a legend. We always remember you.
Dr Maharaj became our family doctor when we arrived in Canada more than 40 years ago, and even though we have had to "move on", he will always be our family GP. His empathy, compassion, kindness, care and just plain old-fashioned interest in others of the human race made him a family doctor par excellence. He lived to reach the ultimate goal of being the best; to us he will always be "the best". Unfortunately, we did not get to meet his sons, but have had wonderful interaction with Dr. Siobhan, who is her father's daughter, reaching for that same goal. Thank you from our family to yours for the care we have received over the years, and may the good memories carry you through this sad time.
It is with great sadness and feeling of loss learning of the passing of a wonderful caregiver for our family for many, many years and that of a long time family friend. Deepest condolences to the family from ours. May Dr. Maharaj rest in peace.
Character, Integrity, Tenacity, Drive, Honour and Pride : these are all qualities that Papa not only held in high esteem, but practiced every day. As a child and teenager growing up, one does not always see things as they really are and cannot see the importance of some of life’s greatest lessons. With time and age I have come to realise that everything Papa did and said for all four of his children was all done for love. He loved us and he loved Mama like no one else could have. He was a wise and disciplined man. When Arlene and I started our own family, I began to understand Papa in a new way and the importance of instilling these character traits into our kids' lives. We were able to find time to sit and discuss what it means to be a parent. Papa gave advice on everything from allowing children time to be children, about time-tact and patience and living life without having to say I should have or I could have—meaning taking all opportunities and having no regrets. He was the smartest and most wise person I will ever know. Papa’s best friend is Mama. They were rarely apart. All he wanted, but was denied, was to be with her at their house on Hale St. It’s difficult to imagine him not being around and I’m not sure how we will all cope. My children Nicholas, Emily and Benjamin will miss him dearly. Papa lived a long and happy life, and only succumbed to ill health right at the very end. Hearing and reading some of the comments from other people in the past few days has put a new perspective of how great a man Papa was. I love you Papa.
