Doug died peacefully at University Hospital on Wednesday, January 29th, 2014. Born in North Yorkshire, England, on February 12th, 1924. Beloved husband of Ann Thornton (nee Kemp); loving father of Patricia Blythe (Chris dec.), Christine Romard (Tim) and Carolyn Carroll (Scott). Proud grandfather of Aarron, Thom, Jen, Andrew (Ashley), Annie, Katie and Emily. Predeceased by sisters Irene and Marjorie and brothers Claude and Raymond. Uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews in both Canada and England. Member of St. John’s Lodge 209A and founding member of the St. George’s Society of London. Doug was a British WWII veteran having served four years in the Durham Light Infantry. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be conducted at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Anglican Church, 489 Pinetree Drive, London, on Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at the church. Light refreshments will follow. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church or a charity of your choice.
