Douglas Wayne Ewing

Doug died on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario, with his cherished wife Trish O’Neil by his side. Doug leaves behind three children: Dan, Heather and Jamie – and their partners Jenn, Tom and Erica, as well as seven dearly loved grandchildren.

Doug and his beloved late wife Barb were married for 33 years until her untimely passing in 2004. Together they fostered many children, even adopting a son. Their friends and their kids’ friends were always welcomed for a BBQ and swim.

Doug loved to laugh and had a wicked sense of humour, but was a compassionate listener to those in need. He drove cancer patients to the Cancer Centre for ten years during retirement and raised countless funds for the Kiwanis Club for over 25 years. He was a trusted and respected employee at RBC Bank for 37 years. Doug often watched the Jays and the Leafs at Crabby’s West with loud cheers and groans. His favourite trip was to Ireland to play golf with the guys. Doug will be missed by so many good friends, old and new: ‘you know who you are’.

Heartfelt thanks go out to the many compassionate doctors and nurses who cared for Doug during his last year.

Friends and family are invited to gather at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the Celebration of Life will be conducted on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to attend in person:

Doug’s ashes will be taken home to Wingham at a later date, as per his request.
