Douglas Frederick Billson

January 6, 2021

63, passed away at University Hospital in London, on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Doug was a son, father, brother and uncle. He is survived by his parents, Roy and Carol Billson; his daughter and her husband, Angela & Chris; his sister and her husband, Barb and John; and their children: Jessica, Jonathan and Jenny.

Doug struggled with mental illness all of his adult life. Although this made his day-to-day life more difficult, he was able to find peace and a constant to his life through art. He has been able to display his work at various venues in London and Strathroy over the years, using these shows as a way to bring light and awareness to the stigma that is attached to schizophrenia, and all mental illness.

A small family graveside memorial will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, London on Monday, January 11, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Canada.

I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I saw him about once a month when he would come to my shop with his art. We would have the best chats about life, philosophy, art and its effect on people. He will be missed by me , my family and employees. Our most sincere sympathies are extended to you and your family.
