Douglas Foster

March 21, 1945 - May 27, 2024

Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, with family at his bedside at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. Born in Toronto, Ontario, on March 21, 1945. Beloved husband of Maureen for 51 years. Cherished father of Darren (Natalie) and Darlene. Proud grandfather of Alex, Zach, and Jake.

Doug lived with diabetes for over 58 years, and he had a kidney transplant in 2013. He lived with determination and a sense of humour that never slowed Doug down. This was evident in Doug’s love for his family. Throughout his life, he was passionate about hockey, playing for the oldtimers hockey into his 60s. He loved the outdoors, keeping busy, classic cars, and spending summers in Port Severn. Doug retired in 2010 after 30 years of service with Mississauga Transit.

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, PSWs, and staff of D Wing, 6th Floor for their excellent care and compassion.

Visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., followed by Funeral service to be conducted at  4:30 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or The Kidney Foundation.
