Douglas ‘Doug’ Cleveland Hall
August 14, 2024
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Douglas Cleveland Hall, on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the age of 89. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Doris (nèe Elliott, formerly Wilton); his daughter, Tonji Hall of Texas; stepson, Richard Wilton (Cathy) of Mississauga; sons, Randall (Lynn) and Roger (Annette), both of London; half-sister, Laura Varga of Texas, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter, Vickie Angelo (2014) of Virginia.
Doug served his country (U.S.) for more than 22 years, both in the army and navy, culminating his military career in the US Coast Guard doing Search and Rescue operations in San Francisco Bay. His service included the Korean War and many tours of Vietnam, where he notably served as a helicopter pilot. In 1975, Doug was recruited by Bell Aerospace Canada in Grand Bend as Chief Pilot, where he tested commercial hovercraft being built there and trained operators in the US army. After Bell Aerospace in 1986, Doug and Doris successfully ran a Lottery Kiosk at Oxbury Mall for 16 years, and a picture framing store, Art U Frame It.
Doug was an artist, particularly in charcoal, with many of his works proudly hanging in the family home. He also enjoyed creating cartoons, which he shared on Facebook. A lover of country music, Doug and Doris formed lasting friendships on the dance floor, where they spent many joyful evenings. Doug was a longtime member of ECKANKAR, the path of total awareness.
A memorial service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:30 p.m. A livestream of the service will be available for those unable to attend in person.

I remember, with appreciation, when Doug and Doris asked Sandy and I to sit with them at the Lambeth Legion when we went there to dance. Sandy had dementia. Doug and Doris made us feel comfortable and we shared many great conversations. My thoughts and prayers are with Doris, Doug, and their families.
May your spirit soar Doug! I have so many wonderful memories of your joyful spirit. This is a photo that captures how very supportive Doug was of Doris and her many community service contributions including her Presidency and other leadership roles within BPW Canada. Doug served as the BPW Canada National Convention chauffeur for international guests and dignitaries. As is clear in the photo, his winning sense of humour and warm grin brightens any room. Sending heartfelt love and hugs to Doris and family during this difficult time. XOXOXO
May your spirit soar Doug! So many wonderful memories of your joyful spirit. Such a supportive partner to Doris in her many community service endeavours and leadership roles in BPW Canada. I fondly recall Doug's unwavering dedication to serving as the 2012 BPW Canada Convention chauffeur for international and distinguished guests.
