Doris Chapple

October 1, 2010

CHAPPLE, DORIS – The family of Doris Chapple is sad to announce the death of our Mother on October 1, 2010 at the age of 93 years at Parkwood Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.  Doris was born Oct. 21, 1917 in Great Harwood England and immigrated to Canada at the age of 12. She was married to Stan (who predeceased her in 2009) for 69 years. During the war she worked on the Lancaster bomber, and later in her life at the age of 67 she learned to fly her own plane along with her Pilot husband. She retired to their cottage on Georgian Bay before their last move to London 5 years ago. Mom was a great knitter, baker and had a love for travel at her husband’s side.  Doris is survived by her son Glen Chapple & daughter Suzanne White, daughter-in-law Sian Tucker, son-in-law Jim Vatcher, Grandchildren Jay White & Lindsay (White) Murray, Melanie & Jeremy Chapple, Erica Sprague & Great Granddaughter Ellie Murray.  The family wishes to thank the staff on A.C.E. Victoria Hospital & P.C.U. at Parkwood Hospital for care above & beyond. Your kindness and support was very much appreciated. Special thanks to Dr Ferner, P.J., Pat, Michelle, & Melanie.   A memorial service is to be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel 709 Wonderland Road North on Friday, October 15th, 2010 at 5p.m.  Donations to the LHSF- Cancer Centre, Parkwood or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.  On-line condolences may be sent through >www.westviewfuneralchapel.com
