Doreen Walker

November 5, 1933 - August 21, 2023

Doreen Walker, in her ninetieth year, went to Heaven on Monday, August 21, 2023 in London, Ontario. Born on November 5, 1933 in Victoria Harbour, Ontario to Paul and Stephanie Legree. She attended Midland High School and worked as a Bell telephone operator. She married James Walker on September 29, 1956 and had two children. After moving to Woodstock in 1965, she worked at Woodstock General Hospital as a switchboard operator. Survived by her husband James, daughter Nancy McFarlane of Strathroy, and son David of Calgary. Beloved grandmother of James (Samantha), Paul (Alexandra), Stephanie (Scott), Ashton, Andrew and Connor, and seven great-grandchildren Madalyn and twin sister Cynthia, Levi, Rory, Jake, Kiera, and Ethan. Predeceased by her parents Napoleon and Stephanie; brothers Bernard and Telesphore; and sister Isobel Feeley. Known for her sharp wit, making people laugh, and love of singing, Doreen will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Her enjoyment of travelling, horse races, casinos and bingos rounded out her very full life. Our very special thanks to all the staff of peopleCare Oakcrossing Long Term Care for their outstanding efforts, love and kindness shown towards our special wife and mother. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Private family interment will take place. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Doreen are asked to consider the Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario.
